The air was crisp with the lingering warmth of late autumn as Tae and Kook strolled down the familiar path to the small, cosy café they often frequented.

It had become a tradition for them—a place where they could unwind, sip on hot chocolate and talk about everything and nothing.

With her soft brown hair cascading over her shoulders, Tae walked a little ahead, her laughter like a melody that always made Kook’s heart race.

He watched her, a fond smile playing on his lips, feeling a warmth that had little to do with the weather.

Kook: “Baby bear, wait up!”
Kook called out, jogging to catch up with her.

His black hair bounced lightly with each step, and the smile that spread across his face whenever he was with her was something everyone around him noticed.

Tae turned, her eyes crinkling as she grinned at him.

Tae: "You’re so slow, Kookie. If we don’t hurry, someone else might take our spot by the window.”

Kook laughed, knowing full well that she was right.

The window seat had always been their favourite, where they could watch the world pass by as they talked about their dreams and plans for the future.

It was their little corner of the world, and losing it to someone else didn’t seem right.

They reached the café, and their spot was still vacant, to their relief.

Tae quickly slid into the seat by the window while Kook went to order their usual drinks.

When he returned, Tae was already gazing out the window, her thoughts seemingly far away.

Kook: “What’s on your mind?”
Kook asked as he placed her hot chocolate in front of her.

Tae turned to him, her expression softening.

Tae: “Just thinking about how things are changing so fast. We’re almost done with school and will soon enter the real world. It’s a little scary, don’t you think?”

Kook nodded, feeling the weight of her words.

It wasn’t something they talked about often, but the future was looming closer, and the uncertainty of what would happen to their friendship came with it.

He couldn’t imagine a life where he didn’t see Tae every day, where they didn’t share these quiet moments.

Kook: “We’ll figure it out, Tae,”
Kook said softly, reaching across the table to take her hand.

Kook: “We’ve always figured things out together, haven’t we?”

Tae smiled, her heart swelling with affection for the boy who had always been beside her.

Tae: “Yeah, we have.”

As they sipped their drinks, the conversation shifted to lighter topics—jokes about their friends, stories from school, and dreams of what they wanted to do in the future.

Kook wanted to travel the world, capturing it all through his camera lens, while Tae dreamed of becoming a writer, weaving stories that would touch people’s hearts.

Tae: “You’ll be an amazing photographer,” Tae said, her eyes shining with conviction.

Tae: “And I’ll be your biggest fan, buying every magazine that features your work.”
She says with a little clap, making Kook smile at her.

Kook: “And I’ll be reading every book you write,” Kook replied, his voice full of warmth.

Kook: “We’ll be unstoppable, bear.”

The afternoon passed in a blur of laughter and shared dreams.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the city, they reluctantly left the café, each lost in their thoughts.

With Tae:

Back home, Tae sat at her desk, staring at the blank page in her notebook.

She wanted to write about the future and the dreams she and Kook had shared, but every time she tried to start, her thoughts drifted back to
how he had looked at her today and
how his hand had felt in hers.

A warmth spread through her, filling her with a strange mixture of happiness and fear.

Tae had always known that Kook was special to her, but lately, those feelings had begun to change, to grow into something she didn’t quite understand.

It was scary for her to think about the possibility that she might be falling in love with her own best friend.

What if he didn’t feel the same?
What if it ruined everything between them?

Shaking her head, Tae pushed those thoughts away.

She doesn't want to think like that, not when their friendship meant so much to her.

They had been through so much together; she didn’t want to lose that.

With Kook:

Meanwhile, in his room, Kook was having similar thoughts.

He lay on his bed, staring at the ceiling as his mind replayed the day’s events.

The way Tae had smiled at him,
the sound of her laughter,
the feel of her hand in his was all crystal clear in his mind.

He had always cared for her, but lately, that care had turned into something deeper, something that made his heart race whenever she was near.

But how could he tell her?
What if she didn’t feel the same?

The thought of losing her was unbearable, but so was the idea of keeping his feelings locked away.

He was torn, unsure of what to do.

Tell me how it was...
