'And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?'
London.
"Welcome home son," his mother said as she wrapped her arms around him.
He let go of his mother and dropped down bending his knees and ran his hand over Bella's hair, "why don't you head in and find Uncle Greg baby?"
His daughter nodded and rushed inside after giving her grandmother a cuddle and a kiss on the cheek, "every time I see her, she's grown at least a foot!" his mother said.
Anthony shook his head, "mum she's five, and she's tiny," he replied with a smile.
Violet put a caring hand on his cheek, "I'm so glad you're home my boy."
Anthony leaned into her hand and smiled, "me too mum."
Anthony Bridgerton's life had certainly changed over the past few years. He had spent the last five or so years in New York taking care of his daughter, Bella Marie Bridgerton. Six years ago, he happened to be at conference in New York with his brothers (something to do with his family's company) and he had a drunken one-night stand... it wasn't anything surprising (or unusual for him).
Well...that was until he got a call 9 months later explaining how he was a father... and the mother had sadly died in birthing complications.
His world stopped – immediately.
The woman in question had no family, but some close friends who knew what happened. So, after they contacted him, he was straight on a plane to New York – and after some tests, everything was confirmed.
He was a dad to beautiful baby girl.
Bella.
So yeah, from late nights at clubs to late nights feedings and taking care of his daughter was an adjustment to say the least. His mother came to New York for the first six months of Bella's life which helped – massively. He moved over operations of Bridgerton & Co to New York - as he had lots of legality issues regarding his 'parental' rights (it seemed the legal systems of the US & UK didn't always see eye to eye). Not to mention her best friend fought tooth and nail to take Bella from him. It was a struggle but after a few years, they finally backed off and Anthony had full custody of his precious daughter.
So, on her fifth birthday when she started asking about her 'family' – Anthony made the decision to head back to England. He was 33, and wanted to be with his family, and he wanted Bella to have aunts, uncles and cousins, and more importantly her grandmother.
It was a decision that nearly floored his family – in a good way.
They were just so excited to have them both come home.
Even though he was happy to be home... nothing that day could have prepared him to see his daughters joy as she ran after her cousins in his mother's back garden. It was pure joy that encapsulated her face, and it made his heart soar.
He made the right choice.
London was always home.
"It's good to see you brother," Daphne said as she leaned into his side, "she really loves it here huh?"
Anthony flung an arm over his sister and kissed her temple, "yeah, it's good to be home sis."
His sister Daphne had two kids, Auggie and Belinda. The two kids were her and Simon's pride and joy. Simon (her husband) just happened to be an old school pal of Anthony's and when he 'got' with Daphne... it caused a few upsets, but over the years they all became close, and those annoyances slowly faded.
