"Victoria I know you're in there," I whisper shouted up to her bedroom window, terrified that I'd wake her parents. After ignoring me all day, I'd had no choice other than to go to her house. I needed to apologise and tell her the truth. I couldn't imagine a life without her, even if she'd always beat me at UNO. "Don't make me get the boombox out."

My smile dropped when I realised she really didn't want to see me. I'd expected her to be a bit mad about the way I had treated her, but I never thought she'd ignore me completely. I kicked a stone as I started walking away, a fatal mistake on my part. In seconds a car alarm was blaring and a furious Victoria was hurrying me up the drain and into her bedroom.

"Are you a fucking idiot?" She hissed, not waiting for me to be fully through the window before she attacked me with a torrent of words. "My parents would have killed you if they saw you!"

A nervous warmth rushed to my cheek as I stumbled into her room, threatening to fall over until her strong hands steadied me.

"I'm sorry."

"Sorry doesn't cut it." Her eyes bore into mine, a fire blazing. But then she softened, and her hand came up to brush the hair from my face. "I was worried about you."

I frowned, annoyed at myself for ever hurting her. "I know."

"You pushed me away."

I put my hands on her waist, my fingers brushing against the skin exposed by her pajama top. "I shouldn't have."

"But you did," she said abruptly. Victoria sighed, resting her head on my shoulder. My arms wrapped around her, holding her tightly against me tightly. "Why?"

"I... it's hard to explain," I mumbled, her rose perfume clouding my thoughts.

"Well, you better figure it out before I commit a murder and throw you out the window," she said seriously. The only thing that stopped me from running out of her bedroom door was the glimpse of a smile on her face as she turned to look at me, her head still resting against my neck.

"So you know how S.W.O.R.D has told everyone that a woman was wrongfully claimed to be a criminal."

Victoria hummed, sending vibrations down my spine. I licked my lips, choosing my next words carefully.

"Well, that woman was Wanda Maximoff. She's not a criminal, she's just a person trying to be better. Sam, Ryan, Tristan and I actually went down to their local compound and we saved her," I admitted. I knew how insane it sounded, and I wouldn't have been surprised if she didn't believe me.

"Fuck," Victoria exclaimed, taking a step back and running a hand through her black hair. "Does that make me an asshole for being annoyed at you?"

I giggled, taking her hands in mine and kissing the back of one. "No. I was an asshole for not telling you sooner."

"Well, you can make it up to me," she whispered softly and walked towards me with a sultry look in her eyes. My eyebrows raised slightly in shock, my hoodie suddenly feeling stifling hot.

"Y-yeah?"

She nodded slowly, putting her arms around my neck . "You can take me to the school dance."

A shaky breath escaped as a triumphant look spread across her face. "I didn't realise it was in a few days."

She rolled her eyes. "I've only been talking about it non-stop."

"Huh, I guess I need to start listening to what you're saying," I joked, inciting a small tap on the back on the back of my head from my girlfriend. She leaned closer, her nose brushing against mine.

"Answer the question," she mumbled against my lips. I leaned back, enjoying the frustrated glint in her eyes.

"Give me a second, I need to think about it."

"Are you kidding me?"

I smiled, an amused laugh escaping, but I was quickly silenced when one of Victoria's hands held the back of my neck and pulled me into a kiss. It wasn't long until she broke away, grinning at my dazed expression.

"I think the answer you're looking for is yes," she teased, wiping her red lipstick from my lips, her fingers agonisingly soft against my skin.

I replied quickly, my voice annoyingly breathy and weak. "Yes."

She kissed the tip of my nose. "Good."

It was undeniable: I was head over heels for Victoria.

With the car alarm still blaring in the background I sat on the bed with her, our bodies entangled as we watched You. It might not be the most romantic series in the world, but it was one we both admitted to being obsessed with.

Everything was as it was supposed to be. Soon, I would be taking the most incredible girl to the school dance. Wanda, my mother, was no longer under the threat of S.W.O.R.D, and I was closer to Sam than I had ever been. It felt like nothing could change that. Like no matter what would come our way, we would face it together.

Oh, how I wish I were right.
