Kirishima felt a flutter in his heart as he looked over at the blonde boy sitting beside him. His best, most manliest friend, Bakugo. The normally hot headed student had a serene look in his eyes as he gazed out toward the sunset. The boys were on a bench in the park, drinking sodas as they sat in silence. Kirishima couldn't help but stare, examining every inch of Bakugo's soft expression. His classmates never saw this side of him, but Bakugo let his guard down around Kirishima. The thought made the red head's heart skip a beat, a nervous blush on his face.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked, breaking the silence.

"Hmm," Bakugo muttered, still looking ahead "Nothing much. Just enjoying the view, I guess."

"Same." He spoke softly, still staring at Bakugo.

Bakugo smirked as he glanced at Kirishima, "Yeah?"

"I mean, well, uh...." Kirishima stuttered, his bravery disappearing as he struggled to make eye contact.

"Is there something on your mind?"

"Yes, actually." Kirishima said quietly, "I wanted to say.... Well, I wanted to ask you, is there anyone you like in our class?"

"Yeah," Bakugo said, seeming nervous as he glanced at the ground, "But, they're kind of... a guy. I dunno. I don't know if he, y'know, swings that way."

Kirishima felt his cheeks burning, hopeful for once that his best friend felt the same way he did.

"But don't you dare tell anyone, or I'll blow your head right off!" Bakugo grumbled, still looking down.

"I won't!" said Kirishima, "Because, well, I feel the same."

Bakugo gave a questioning look, his eyes growing wide. Before his bravery could disappear again, Kirishima leaned forward and captured his friend's lips with his own. Warmth rushed throughout his body--but it was short lived. Bakugo pulled away, awkwardly standing up and taking a step back.

"Oh, uh, sorry dude." He said quickly, "I didn't mean.... Um, I just...."

"No, no, I'm sorry," Kirishima blurted, a pit forming in his stomach, "It was my mistake, I was being stupid, I don't why I did that!"

"It's alright, don't worry," The other boy said, though he still looked uncomfortable, "But, I should probably get going now. It's getting late."

"Oh, yeah...." Kirishima muttered, his whole face bright red, "See you later?"

"Yeah, see you later, stupid hair."

He half-smiled at the nickname, but he was still brimming with a crushing feeling of disappointment. Kirishima couldn't remember the last time he felt this upset. But yet, as he watched Bakugo walk away, he realized the mortifying rejection hadn't made him lose feelings in the slightest, his heart still thumping as the other boy glanced back for a moment. Even though he never stopped, never fully turned around, Kirishima couldn't stop the butterflies in his stomach from dancing, filled with the smallest hope that one day they could be together.
