The next morning, Casey woke up, Nate, Stiles and Brooke were sitting in chairs around her bed, all asleep.
"Good morning to you guys too." She said, sounding coarse.
"Casey, you're awake." Brooke said teary eyed.
"I'm okay, Brooke." Casey said, a reassuring tone in her voice.
"I'm so sorry. I'm so so sorry." Brooke softly said.
"I'm not mad at you, Brooks. I don't blame you. I know you didn't mean to. I know you didn't have control over what happened."
"Still. I never wanted to hurt you. I never want to ever hurt you."
"It's okay, how did it end up going?"
"The drive was a bit chaotic, Derek had to keep me and Isaac apart while Nate was driving."
"You kept in control?" She asked Nate.
"Yeah. I was able to control it."
"I'm proud of you. I know you were scared of the full moon."
"I was and it worked out well for me. Brooke was able to control it as well, after the drive. She found an anchor. We both did."
"Really? What is it?"
"I don't ever want to hurt someone like I just hurt you."
"And I don't want to be more of a disappointment to my family."
"I'm so proud of you guys."
"What damage did I do to you? I don't remember much." Brooke asked. Casey got up a little, lifting her gown and her bandaid. A streak of claw marks ran over her abdomen. They didn't seem too deep, but deep enough to need stitches. Brooke cried upon seeing it.
"I'm so sorry."
"I'm sorry too, that I couldn't keep her back."
"I'm not mad, guys. I'm glad you're both able to control yourselves now, and it'll heal eventually. I'll be fine. Shouldn't you be in school anyway now?"
"We're ditching."
"You're not ditching school for me."
"Yes, we are."
"Nathan, you're not. Especially not you. I don't want you to get in trouble for me."
"Well, my dad's writing me a sick note, so you're stuck with me, Casey."
"And I have straight A's, so I'm not going anywhere." Brooke said.
"Me either." Stiles said.
"Thank you again for driving me last night, Stiles. Have you been here all night?"
"It's no problem, Casey. Yeah, I have. Didn't want you to be alone. But Brooke and Nate kept me company for most of the time."
"Thank you for staying. Did anyone call my parents yet?"
"I tried. No answer. Texted them to give me a call but no response so far. I also tried Leah and Sage, but I think they were still asleep. And I didn't have your aunt's number." Brooke said.
"Call my aunt from my phone, maybe try my parents too. See if they answer then."
"Will do." Brooke left the room.
"Did she beat herself up much about what happened?" Casey asked Nate.
"Yeah, she thought you were going to hate her."
"I could never hate her. She's my best friend. I consider her my family more than my actual family. It's not like I ever see them anyway."
"Do they travel a lot?"
