"Got the music in you, baby, tell me why?" Sakshi was humming as she washed the dishes.
Salish slammed the door and stormed into her bedroom, followed closely by her mother.
"What happened?" Sakshi asked gently as she began fixing Salish's hair.
"Nothing, just a bad day," Salish replied, trying to hide her tears.
"You know you can tell me anything," Sakshi said softly. "Is it Oasis?"
"Yes," Salish admitted, her voice cracking. "He broke up with me. And now what am I supposed to do? He just left me like this after four flipping years?"
"I understand," Sakshi said, tears welling up as she saw her daughter in pain.
"No, you don't, Mom. I loved him since I was 16, waited two years to date him, and now when I thought I found 'the one,' he does this to me."
"Why did he break up with you?"
"He says he doesn't love me anymore. After four long years, he says he feels numb with me like he has no feelings left. And now he's talking to some famous creator on Instagram."
"I hate to bring this up, but imagine if he's already moved on after four years. Do you really expect him to love you for the rest of your life?"
"It's not always a fairy tale, Mom! You have to make things work."
"You've been trying so hard since the beginning, but love isn't supposed to be a constant struggle. It's patient; it's not always this painful."
"Love is easy for you, Mom, because you found Daddy when you were a teenager, and everything just worked out. You guys have always been a great couple, and now I can't imagine building what I had with Oasis with anyone else."
"Do you really think it was easy to meet your dad, fall in love, and get married?"
