Smoke damage

Chapter 1

It's a normal day at The Knight Nursery the children screaming parents moaning but over the past few week things in the nursery hasn't been normal from random smells coming from the staff room to most of the staff coming down sick.

Looking confused Carly looks in the corner of the staff room then back at her phone but taking a second look just to make sure she wasn't seeing things. In the corner was a green smoke but before she could stand up to look she hears the door open and in walks Charlotte. "Hey Carly how's your day going mine feels like a day from hell I have a horrible headache but can't go home as there's no one to cover me and Mia is off as well".

Carly sits back down still looking confused then goes to talk but just can't work out what the mysterious smoke was but chooses to ignore it and changes her thoughts and answers Charlotte "yeah my day has been the same. What room are you in today".

Looking concerned but chooses not to comment on it Charlotte look at want the young girl was looking at but can't see anything. "oh yeah I'm in the pre-school room today luckily enough we don't have many in today so Marjorie said I can go home early today".

Carly looks at Charlotte with a concerned look "Char if I could I would take over for you but I'm in the baby room today and there's no one to cover me as Sorcha asked for today off as she doesn't want to baby Quinn to get what ever is going around".

Charlotte nods and starts eating when suddenly she leaps up and races for the toilets throwing up. As she walks out she's greeted by the same green smoke that Carly saw before she entered but before she could make a comment the smoke disappears. As she goes to sit back down she's greeted by a concerned 17 year old who in her attempt to soften her voice says "Char I know we are under staffed but I think you need to go home it's not right that your her and Mia is at home".

The red head sits back down grabbing her water to clean the sick taste in her mouth and says in a soft voice attempting not to throw up again "Carly you know that's impossible even if I were to go down to speak to Marjorie there's no on..".

Before she could finish what she was saying a thought pops into her head "wait there is one person that isn't sick and that can cover me but I have to hope Marjorie agrees with me first". Before Carly could reply the red head is already out the door and on her way to the office.

As Charlotte arrives at the office she hears Marjorie talking on the phone so decided to walk in quietly and waits for her to finish but to her surprise she hears Marjorie say Mia's name which causes her cheeks to turn cherry red.

Marjorie places the phone back into her bag and turns round to so that she could give the red head her full attention but smiles at the sight for her red head friend looking as red as her own her and says "let me guess you heard me say Mia's name".

Charlotte covers her face with both her hands and says without thinking "can you blame me my girlfriend is a freaking goddess and looks smoking hot". saying that her cheeks turn are darker shade of red causing her boss to start laughing.

Marjorie stops laughing and puts her professional face on and says "ok Char as much as I love you popping by can I ask what it is I can do for you".

The red head comes down a little know her cheeks are still red and says "that's the thing I was wondering and I know what your going to say but I feel I should ask anyway".

Before she could say anything else Marjorie jumps in "Char you know where under staffed as almost everyone has gone home or didn't come in today other then Sorcha who couldn't come in because of Quinn".

Charlotte quickly regretting coming in due to knowing the answer she was going to get then speaks again "I know but there is one person that can come in and cover for me that doesn't get sick".

Marjorie instantly knowing who she is talking about looks at her friend and says "well yes that is a possibility but I doubt she would".

Charlotte think is for a moment then with a devious smile says "I have an idea how about I say to Autumn that I will by her two bottle of her favourite wine because I need to go home I haven't felt well all day and to top it all off I though up in the staff room and either I'm hallucinating but there was green smoke in the corner of the staff room".

Looking concerned Marjorie looks at Charlotte knowing what she is talking about but chooses not to bring it up and says "well if you can persuade her into coming in then yes but I'm sorry my love your going to have to stay I'm afraid".

Standing up Charlotte puts her hand out for Marjorie to shake and says "deal". Then walks back up into the staff room to call Autumn.

As Charlotte arrives back into the staff room the mysterious green smoke once again appears but just as fast as it appeared it disappears Charlotte decided to just ignore it and walks over to her locker pulling out her phone and finding Autumn's number.

Within the first two rings autumn answers but not sounding so happy "Charlotte you better give me a valid reason to why your calling me on my day off if not goodbye".

Charlotte huffs but quiet enough that she's not heard on the other end and says "it's ok what I'm about to ask you is going to make you agree and hopefully say yes to".

Getting a little frustrated Autumn replies "Charlotte you have five minutes to explain why your calling or I'm going to end the call and go back to lay with my sick husband".

the red head smiles and says "so if I were to buy you two bottles of your favourite wine would you come in to cover I'm not feeling so good and I just throw up and I don't want my girls to come down sick as well".

Autumn sighs and agrees but decided that two bottles of wine wasn't enough and that she needed to buy winter something as well Charlotte to agrees and ends the call and goes back down to the office to tell Marjorie the news.

before heading home the red head decided to go down to say goodbye to the 17 year old appearance. After saying goodbye she walks back upstairs to grab her stuff but before she could the green smoke engulfs her causing her to plumet to the ground then everything goes dark. What happens next leaves Charlotte confused and unsure of her surroundings.
