Nova POV:I feel the awkward tension between us as we stood outside, not knowing what to say or do.
I anxiously shuffle on my feet and stare at the ground below me. Should I just go?
" So..." Ashton says slowly, scratching the back of his neck.
I look up and give him a small kind smile, " Thanks for helping me."
He nods " Its fine."
" You know him... Ash?" I ask him curiously.
" No but he seems like a total douchebag." He chuckles, shoving his hands in his pockets.
I laugh slightly, still nervous that Im talking to my best friends brother.
" Im guessing he is your...boyfriend right?" He questions, raising an eyebrow.
" NO!" I deny quickly, frowning at the thought. The corners of his lips tug up slightly and he looks around and sighs.
" You shouldn't be out here, it's late." He tells me as I shiver in the cold.
" I would say the same to you, I saw you in that fight." I reply, rolling my eyes. He looks straight back at me and I fidget nervously.
" It isn't important." He quickly shrugs it off, looking away from me. I furrow my eyebrows in curiousity and take a step foward. Why did he want to avoid the subject so much?
" Tell me." I say to him. He sighs and bites his lip which I must say, was a bit sexy.
That's Zara's moody older brother you are talking about Missy!
I blush slightly and look at him.
" Let's just say I have a few enemies who want nothing more than to get revenge." He says mysteriously, leaving me hanging.
What did he mean? I was extremely interested now and I knew once something caught my attention, I would have to investigate. I didn't push it though as I would find out soon.
We start walking down the streets, I knew my mum would be back home by now so she could let me in.
I shiver as the chilly wind slaps against my bare arms, my band tee not doing much to keep me warm.
" You're cold." Zara's brother states, looking over at me.
" No shit." I mumble, my teeth chattering in the cold.
I suddenly feel a warm heavy fabric cover my shoulders and I see that Ashton had placed his black hoodie on me.
I widen my eyes in surprise that he would do such a kind gesture, wasn't he supposed to be heartless and mean? Maybe Zara and myself were wrong, maybe he was different.
" Thank you." I say shyly, feeling a tint of blush on my cheeks. I hug the warm hoodie to myself and embrace the comfertable and safe feeling of warmth it gives me.
" It's cool." He grins back.
" So, why are you out this late?" Ashton asks as we walk in the dark. I bite my cheek in embarrassment and laugh nervously.
" I kinda... um, got locked out of my house?" I say more like a question than a statement. Ashton bites his lip and starts laughing hardly, as if he couldn't hold it in any longer.
" Shut up! It isn't funny!" I pout, my cheeks flaming in embarrassment. He continues laughing loudly and nudges me with his shoulder.
" Yes it is. After all these years you're still the same clumsy Nova aren't you?" Ashton chuckles. I look over at him and realize that this is the most I have seen him smile for years.
