I do not fancy fairytales.
They always depict princes as gallant knights in gleaming armor, slaying dragons and saving kingdoms. And the princesses? Ever so delicate, merely sitting idly, awaiting their grand rescue.
But I am a princess, too!
And I shan't be like those helpless princesses.
I desire to be the kind of princess who requires no valiant, yet haughty, prince to come to my aid. Eonnie claims it's all but fiction, yet still, it baffles me. Why should the princesses surrender their hearts to a prince solely because he rescued them?
I wish to fend for myself.
I care not for Mama and Papa's excessive doting.
Out of all the tales of royalty I've read, Brave remains my favorite. Merida sought neither a prince nor a suitor to claim her hand in marriage. She longed to chart her own path, and I yearn for the same.
Now, why do I speak of this?
Well, I am rather cross with Papa at the moment...

I was quietly reading a book eonnie had given me in the garden when Papa suddenly introduced me to this boy. I was perplexed but knew I mustn't show it. I have been well-trained in decorum, so I simply smiled as a proper princess should.
