Epilogue

Two days later

Gabi woke up that morning feeling a sense of dread. Sasha was leaving to go back home. The two had enjoyed their shopping trip to downtown Stohess and the day at the beach with Reiner and Bertholdt.

She noticed though that Sasha was trying to get her not to buy a lot. Even though Reiner told her to "go nuts" with his credit card.

Gabi came downstairs to see the three of them sitting around the kitchen table having coffee.

"Why aren't you guys at work?" Gabi asked Reiner and Bertholdt.

"Simple, we quit our jobs." Reiner said.

Gabi's eyes went wide with panic. "Why on earth would you do that? You have a kid to raise now!"

"Well Gabi it is kind of hard for me to work at a hospital where my commute would be over a thousand something miles." Bertholdt said taking sip of his coffee.

"What are you talking about..."

Reiner let out a sigh. "Gabi I wasn't on the phone with the movers the other day. I was just talking to my friend Porco."

"So where is my stuff?!?!"

"Relax Gabi...it's currently safe and secure in a storage unit back in Trost."

"Why?"

"Well until Reiner and I can close on the house we are going to buy." Berthold said.

"Wait what do you guys mean?"

"Bertholdt and I talked it over, and we've enjoyed out time here in California but we both think we are ready to come back home. We also didn't think it was fair for you to have to completely uproot your life your senior year. I also wanted you to be close to your parents." Reiner said. "So, we are moving back to Trost. We should be moved in before the school year starts, but just in case the Blaus family said you can live with them until we get out there."

"I...I gotta call Zofia and Kaya and....Falco!!!!"

"Kaya is already on that and she said Falco is eager for you to come back. Says you two can pick up right where you left off." Sasha said with a smile.

"So, when do I go back?" Gabi said still stunned at the news.

"Well that depends..." Sasha said. "You can stay here and help them pack and such and come with them, you can fly back and stay with my family, or we can drive back together."

Gabi sat down and thought for a moment. "You guys have been planning this all along."

"Maybe" Reiner said.

"So, why have Sasha drive me all the way out here? Not that I didn't have fun but..."

"Well, I just thought that you and she could use some time to reconnect ya know. You guys have been through a lot." He said winking at Gabi.

"Does...does he know?"

"So, what would you like to do?"

Gabi looked at the three of them. "Well I don't want to leave this morning but..." she looked to Sasha. "I would love to take another road trip with you."



One Month Later

Sasha was scrolling through her phone while Connie was heavily invested in a baseball game. She smiled as she saw all of Kaya and Gabi's back to school pictures. She was glad that Gabi got to stay in Trost and that their friendship was going strong.

"Sash what time are we meeting Mikasa and this new guy of hers?" Connie asked.

"We are meeting them for dinner at 7 so" She looked at the time, "we gotta shower soon."

"Together?" Connie asked with a sly smile.

"I wish lover boy but it's already 6:15"

Connie pouted, and Sasha gave him a soft kiss. "Doesn't mean we can't have fun when we get home."

Connie laughed as Sasha got off the couch and headed to the bathroom. She walked past her nightstand and smiled at the stone sitting on it.



Connie and Sasha arrived first and got a table. Mikasa had texted them that they were running a bit late.

"So, had she told you anything about this guy?"

Sasha shook her head. "Only that they met while volunteering at a river clean up thing."

Connie shrugged and went back to the beer menu.

"Guys! I am so sorry; traffic was a nightmare." Mikasa said as she came up to the table.

Sasha looked up from her menu, her eyes going wide. She'd recognize that face anywhere.

"This is my boyfriend Eren Jeager!"
