A girl stood on the edge of a balcony, wind blowing her brightly colored hair everywhere. Wide caramel colored eyes filled with sadness and a hint of anger watched the tiny shadowed figures on the horizon, coming closer with each passing day.

The girl knew what was coming.

War.

She let out a mournful sigh and straightened her posture before leaping down to the forest floor below.

It was time to warn her people about what was to come.

It was funny, she thought as she ran, that she once was a carefree girl who only worried about the injuries her friends got. It was funny how the older girls she once knew liked to dress her up as a princess and now she was one; a ruler of her own country, hidden from the view of others.

Her thoughts took a darker turn, as she envisioned the war fleets on the horizon.

At least, this country used to be peaceful, but now...

The Ruler of Tenryuu Island smiled a bittersweet smile, brushing a strand of electric blue hair out of her face as she came to a stop. Sometimes, she wished that her friends could see her now with how she's progressed. Especially after losing everything once more, including them.

She could feel the tears trying to worm themselves out, but she forced them back.

She wasn't the young and naive girl she used to be. She might have the same features, but she was different. She was no longer a mage of her loving family. Her magic was gone along with the world she came from.

She was no longer 'Sky Maiden', or 'The Sky Dragon Slayer'. She wasn't even a Fairy Tail mage anymore.

The worst of all, she thought as she pushed open the doors to the large building she stopped in front of, she wasn't 'Wendy Marvell' anymore either.

She was now Lady Yoko, the Ruler and Priestess of Tenryuu Island; the island where once a flourishing country overflowing with magic stood.

Yoko was the last one left and she was living in the ruins of her old home. She could feel her determination turn to steel at those thoughts.

Yes, she was the last one, and Mavis forbid if she didn't fight for her home. For her people, for her friends.

Straightening her posture and a glint of passion in her eyes, she faced the crowd of her people head on. So what if she was now Lady Yoko. She was once Wendy Marvell, and Wendy was a girl who stood up for what she believed in; who stood up for her family.

Yoko could hear the echo of her own words from a time long ago:

"The fact that I'm standing here means I'm also prepared to fight on the behalf of my guild!"

The unspoken words, my family hung in the air, Wendy's eyes glittering with determination and bravery.

No matter who faced her, she would do whatever it took to keep her family safe and not tarnish their name.

Yes, Yoko remembered that day clearly. Maybe, she could bring out that small part of her that was still 'Wendy' and not fully 'Yoko'.

As Yoko explained the situation to her people she could see the multiple emotions flashing through the crowd: nervousness, fear, worry, anger, and so many more.

"My people! Do not fear! I shall not let these foreigners take our home away from us! We shall fight them till our last breath to keep this island and our families safe! They shall never rip us apart nor take this island as their own!" Yoko could feel the change in her people as she channeled her true feelings through her words; the person she truly was: Wendy Marvell, the Sky Dragon Slayer and the daughter of Grandine, Queen of Sky Dragons.

"For we are strong! Our island itself is named after the Sky Dragons! As inhabitants of this island we will fight and protect! For that is what Dragons do! That is what a family does! Above anything else we are family and shall protect one another!"

The crowd roared their agreement back in response, positivity and determination shining through each and every one of them.

....

On a small island, protected from view, a Priestess rallied her people and gave them something to fight for. Unknown to anyone but the ones, a flood of tiny white bird-like creatures, rukh, came from the aforementioned island.

The people of Tenryuu Island were ready to fight, to protect.

....

Far away from the ocean, pale blue eyes snapped open.

"What is this? This rukh is unlike anything I've ever felt before." The person let out a sigh.

"Well, well, it seems as though things just got more complicated." A small smile appeared on the slightly feminine face.

"But isn't it always when it comes to fate? Hopefully," the person got up and was revealed to be a male wearing strange green and cream clothing, a green magician's hat perched across a head of long braided blond hair.

"Hopefully, this new person can help guide others on the right path of fate."

....

On the other side of the world, in a dark room a meeting had started.

"The girl has survived."

"How could she have? The blast was enough to wipe out a country."

"If she's alive, does that mean that the others are?"

"Don't be foolish, we all saw them perish with their precious guild."

"Yes, and we thought that she had died with them! There's now a possibility of others being alive as well."

As the whispers continued, a deep and powerful voice interrupted.

"SILENCE FOOLS!"

The room's occupants obeyed as the masculine voice continued.

"I watched firsthand on how those pesky little flies died. A few flies were missing yet they were assumed dead in the blast. This girl was lucky, but not lucky enough. We shall find this last dragonfly and destroy her! We shall rip her wings off and dull her claws! She shall die this time and NEVER COME BACK!" The voice rose steadily and steadily till it was shouting.

"NOW WHO'S WITH ME!"

A chorus of shouts and cheers met the voice.

"WE ARE!"

A cruel smirk adorned the voice's face.

"Good. The plan is coming together nicely. Let's see how resilient these fairy-flies really are."

A deep booming chuckle escaped, his tone promising pain and suffering.

"Come little fly, and face the might of true demons. You will be pleasantly surprised."
