I wonder, if any of it was even true.

There are so many questions in my head, keeping themselves hidden all this time. I hold back, because i'm scared. I'm scared that knowing the truth will hurt me. With this, some days felt too heavy for me to shoulder, it felt unbearable, and it hurts more when I know that I don't have anyone by my side... for me to lean on.

It's terrifying.

Maybe, just maybe. Building my walls high, and not coming out of my shell would give me peace. Maybe I can just let it all out and be happy?

Maybe, if I hide myself  behind this mask, I'll be okay? I hope so.

“It's raining so damn hard. Will tito sundo you here?” lingon ni Elvi sa‘kin.

“Yeah, probably.” I answered. “Ikaw?”

“My boyfriend will pick me up. And speaking of!” lumiwas ang tingin niya kaya napalingon din ako. A black nice car approaching the place we're standing at. “Omg omg!” she said sounding so happy and excited. Pero lagi naman siyang ganiyan, oa.

“Kalandian mo talaga El ha!” pantutukso kopa.

“Huy! You're still not sanay to me paba??” tumatawang sabi nito, sakto kakahinto lang ng sasakyan sa harapan namin. Bumaba ang window no'n at isang lalaki ang nangingiting tumanaw kay Elvi.

“Did I come late?” tanong nito kay Elvi.

Para namang naging pabebeng highschool girl si Elvi bago kinikilig na sumagot, akala mo inasinan eh.

“No babe, you're just in time!” lumingon ito ulit sa'kin, and then she winked at me. “I'll go first Chev, remember your promise ha! Tom is night out!” pagpapaalala nito, I rolled my eyes.

“Finals are coming up, isa pa I already said no—”

“Hep hep—” sabay tapat sa'kin ng kamao niya.

“Hooray?” I answered despite the curiosity.

Humagalpak ito ng tawa. “You're so funny talaga Chevy-girl, hahahahaha!! Mauuna na ako, see you tom girly!” and then she ran to make it to the other side of the car para makapasok na dahil naulan pa rin ng kaunti. “Take care, Chev!” she then waved and blew a kiss at me before they drove off.

Few minutes later, dumating na si manong Fred, our family driver. I still stay with my parents, adoptive parents. Yes, I'm not their real child. I was adopted. I never met any of my parents, I don't even know their faces and names. My adoptive parents, they never tell me about my biological family.

Although, with my appearance. I think, I'm mixed. I'm not sure though, it's just that, I have western features. A lot of people also say so. My skin color's too white for some reason, that sometimes I look like I don't have any blood on my body. Kidding aside, not that I'm bragging about anything, but where these genes came from. I've been curious about my biological parents for 22 years already.
