King's Landing was so very lonely for Rhaelle Targaryen. The young princess really only had her elder sister, and sometimes her mother in her corner.

Alicent's relationship with her youngest daughter was somewhat strained.

Of course, her mother loved her, and she was maltreat in any way towards her youngest, but it was evident that Rhaelle would take a backseat to Helaena.

Rhaelle believed that her mother loved Helaena more because Alicent had Helaena at such a young age, it made them bond more, since they are the ones who grew up together.

Rhaelle honestly didn't notice her mother's favoritism at first. Most of the time, she was off staring at the sky lost in thought to see it, even if it was right in front of her. But when she began seeing how differently she was treated compared to Helaena, it deeply saddened her.

Around that time, Rhaelle had began visiting her oldest sibling, Princess Rhaenyra. In some ways, Rhaelle saw Rhaenyra as a mother figure. However, when Alicent found out about Rhaelle's bond with her older sister, she was furious.

Alicent began telling Rhaelle tales, that Rhaenyra would have to put her and her other siblings to the blade in order to strengthen her claim to the Iron Throne. Rhaelle didn't believe her mother at first, and she chalked up Alicent's tall tales to delusion and paranoia.

To Alicent's shock, her stories didn't stop Rhaelle from seeing the woman. No matter how many things she tried to tell her young daughter, it didn't sway her.

Eventually, Alicent gave up on trying to keep Rhaelle away from Rhaenyra and she allowed her youngest daughter to continue her visits to her once best friend.

Inside the castle walls in her mother's chambers, the young Rhaelle Targaryen sat in one of the arm chairs. Her mother was busy getting her dress fixed by a handmaiden.

The room was mostly quiet, with only the sounds of maids bustling around and Rhaelle's humming filling the space. Rhaelle sat with her embroidery in her laps, her hands pulling the needle and thread through the cloth.

When the doors of the room opened, Rhaelle's head stayed down.

"Rhaenyra! You should be resting after your labors." Alicent turned towards her used-to-be best friend, who carried her newborn babe in her hands.

"I have no doubt that you would prefer that, Your Grace." Rhaenyra smiled. Rhaelle looked up and could tell deep down Rhaenyra was rather angry about the ordeal.

"You must sit. Talya, fetch a cushion for the Princess." Alicent instructed, and Tayla did as she was told.

"There's no need." Rhaenyra lightly protests.
