In a large training arena, Cody and Rose Quartz were staring each other down while the other Crystal Gems watched.

"So Cody." Rose Quartz said with a smile filled with confidence. "Are you ready for action?"

"I was born ready, big mama." Cody replied with a sly grin. "And this time, I'm giving it my all."

Rose Quartz chuckled in response. "As am I, Cody." Rose Quartz's gemstone on her navel then glowed, and she willed two weapons into existence. One was her shield. The other was a sword that was slightly dark pink with a hint of red pommel resembling a rosebud with rose quartz embedded in it. The guard and knuckle bow of the sword were pink with the guard having an image of a four-petaled white flower in the middle. The grip was a dark pink, and the grip, guard, and knuckle bow were inscribed with a twirling thorn design.

Cody still had his smirk visible on his face as the gem in his chest began to glow. But instead of conjuring a weapon like Rose Quartz did, his shadow had somehow got a life of its own as it rose upwards.

Cody kept smirking as he raised his right hand upwards, and his shadow flew to his palm. And in moments, the animated shadow changed into a large double-ended Zweihander.

"Wow!" Steven beamed in pure amazement.

Amethyst whistled in amazement at the sight. "Swanky."

Rose Quartz was also impressed by this. "Truly impressive, Cody."

Cody nods his head. "You've seen nothing yet." Cody said, his eyes emitting an aura that was a mix of black and gray with his pupils going white. "Now why don't we dim the lights a little?"

Shortly afterwards, a thick black fog began to permeate throughout the arena. Rose Quartz was undeterred by this. The other Crystal Gems however were taken aback.

"That's new!" Amethyst uttered out in shock.

"This fog is so thick!" Pearl exclaimed as she tried to navigate through the dark mist. "And light is almost nonexistent! How will they be able to see?"

Rose Quartz looked around, trying to spot Cody. But the black mist that shrouded her vision did little to help.

Rose Quartz smirked. "I see. You really decided to up the ante here."

"That's right, Rose." Cody's voice spoke through this mist.

"But how will you be able to..." Rose Quartz was cut off when she heard footsteps coming her way. With quick reaction time, she uses her shield to block an attack from Cody.

"See in the dark?" Cody finished for Rose Quartz in a cheeky manner. "Two words. Night vision." Cody suddenly vanished, surprising Rose Quartz.

Rose Quartz however wasn't going to go down without a fight. So if she can't rely on her vision, then she'll have to rely on her other senses.

With a deep breath, she closed her eyes and waited patiently.

Cody snuck up behind Rose Quartz and was about to strike. But to his surprise, Rose Quartz quickly turned around and held her shield up to block the attack. Rose Quartz then opened her eyes, smirking mischievously before Cody was encased in a large pink bubble.

Then with a swing of her arm, Rose Quartz managed to clear the room of the black fog. With visibility now crystal clear, Rose Quartz popped the bubble containing Cody with her sword before jumping back.
