...

Well, I caved.

I figured with how much attention, and shockingly with how much love and favoritism Sun To Me had, that I couldn't just end it. I love it way too much 😭

And I ABSOLUTELY have to write more of some characters that sadly didn't shine as much. Like Sarah, Lou, Jase, The Wranglers...

And there's still so much of the story to be told, so many secrets to uncover, and lessons to learn.

Without further ado, here's the information you should know before diving into these short stories:

A Quick Note on the Original Story:
If you haven't read Sun To Me yet, or just skimmed through it, I'd recommend giving it a read (or a re-read) to get the full context of these stories. While it's not strictly necessary, it will definitely help avoid any confusion and give you a richer experience with these shorts.

Emoji Content Tags:
I'll be using emojis as "tags" to give you a quick preview of what to expect in each short story. I think it's a fun and effective way to set the mood and prepare you for the contents of each short:

- Angst/Whump: 😔
- Fluff/Romance: 💕
- Sensitive Topics (e.g., addiction, trauma): ⚠️
- Character Death: 🖤
- Happy/Memorable Moments: 🌟
- Storms/Tornadoes: 🌪️
- Marriage/Wedding: 💍
- Home/Peaceful Moments: 🏡

You'll find these emoji tags at the beginning of each chapter or story, giving you a little sneak peek at the tone and content.

Character Backgrounds:
Here's a quick refresher on some of the key players in Sun To Me:

- Lainey Grace Peterson: A former barrel racing champion who has battled addiction and is now on a journey of recovery. Her relationship with Tyler Owens has been both her anchor and her inspiration for change.

- Tyler Reed Owens: A charismatic rodeo cowboy turned Tornado Wrangler whose career was abruptly ended by a tragic bronc accident. His relationship with Lainey has been a second chance journey of growth, healing, and love.

- The Wranglers (Boone, Dani, Dexter, and Lily): Tyler's team, each bringing their own unique personality, usually crazy, to the story and to the team.

Now, I know some of you have favorite characters, and I’m happy to say that this collection of short stories will give them more time to shine. Whether it's exploring Lou's life as a trick rider away from barrel racing, where Jase was when Lou did rodeo, or delving deeper into the friendship and wildness of The Wranglers—these stories are for you!

Content Warnings
- Sensitive Topics: I’ve tackled some heavy issues in these stories, including addiction, trauma, and loss. Please be aware that these themes are present and might be triggering for some readers.
- Emotional Intensity: Expect a rollercoaster of emotions. There will be moments that pull at your heartstrings or maybe even bring a tear to your eye—but I promise, there’s hope and light at the end of every tunnel (usually)

Story Structure
- Timeline: These stories don’t always follow a linear timeline. You might jump forward or backward in time, uncovering different layers of Lainey and Tyler’s relationship and the lives of those around them.

A Word From Kay

Lastly, I just want to say thank you for coming along on this journey with me! Writing Sun To Me has been an emotional and rewarding experience, and I hope these stories offer you the same kind of connection and catharsis that writing them provided me.

Now, with all that sappiness and information out of the way, it’s time to dive into the stories! I genuinely can't wait to write more adventures, more emotions, and more of the characters you love. I hope you enjoy every word. 🫶🫶
