chapter four: storm's edge

§ ---🦇--- §

the atmosphere within the mansion grew more tense with each passing hour. while the brothers had managed to fend off the attack, there was no denying that something dark and foreboding still loomed over them. the wounds of betrayal hadn't healed, and the echoes of the night's chaos lingered in every creaking floorboard and whispering breeze that seeped through the shattered windows.

minho and jisung were inseparable now, their bond not just one of survival but of something deeper—something both of them were still coming to terms with. minho had imprinted on jisung, a process neither fully understood but couldn't deny. it was like an invisible thread that tied their souls together, pulling them closer with every heartbeat, every breath.

but that bond, as powerful as it was, didn't go unnoticed by the others. especially by felix.

from the moment jisung had arrived at the mansion, felix had felt a strange connection to him, an attraction that was more than just physical. it was like jisung's very presence had awakened something in felix, something he hadn't realised was there. and now, watching jisung and minho together, seeing the way minho's eyes darkened possessively whenever someone else got too close, made felix's chest tighten with an unfamiliar, burning jealousy.

it wasn't fair. felix had been there from the beginning, had been just as much a part of this strange, twisted family as minho. yet, jisung had chosen minho, and minho had claimed him as his own. the mark of that imprinting was undeniable—a bond that no one could break, no matter how much felix wished otherwise.

felix clenched his fists, trying to push down the jealousy that threatened to consume him. it wasn't like him to be so affected, so emotional, but there was something about jisung that got under his skin, something that made him feel more alive, more desperate than he had in a long time.

and now, as they all gathered in the grand hall, discussing their next steps, felix couldn't help but watch minho and jisung, the way they stood close together, the subtle touches that passed between them. it was like they existed in their own world, a world felix was not a part of.

he hated it.

"we need to find changbin," chan was saying, his voice calm but authoritative. "we can't let him roam free after what he did. we need to bring him back, make him answer for his betrayal."

jisung's heart tightened at the mention of changbin's name. the memory of changbin's cold, emotionless face when he turned on them still haunted him. how could someone who had once been so close to them, someone who had once been their brother, betray them so easily?

"we have to be careful," jisung said quietly, his voice trembling with the weight of everything that had happened. "he knows us. he knows how we think, how we fight. we can't just go after him blindly."

minho's hand found jisung's, squeezing it reassuringly. "we'll be smart about it. but we can't let him get away with this."

felix watched the exchange, his jaw clenched tight. the way minho and jisung leaned on each other, supported each other, made something inside him twist painfully. he hated feeling like this—so helpless, so left out.

but there was nothing he could do.

"i'll go with you," felix said suddenly, his voice sharper than he intended. "if we're going after changbin, i want to be there."

minho's eyes flicked to felix, something unreadable in his gaze. "fine. but stick close. we don't know what changbin's capable of now."

jisung noticed the tension in felix's voice, the way his normally calm demeanor seemed frayed at the edges. something was off, but jisung couldn't quite put his finger on it. he wanted to ask felix what was wrong, but now wasn't the time. there were bigger things at stake—like surviving the night.
