A new teachers' thoughts

Screams, weeping, yelling, alarms, sirens, that's all I heard amidst the chaos.

I witnessed blood flowing down the hallways, people running and seeking refuge.

Some made it out the door, some were less fortunate, losing limbs, others their lives.

And here I am, on the third floor in classroom 127 with four children, and a flesh-hungry monster just below us, pounding on that door...

It's almost comedic, isn't it?

I recall being the new teacher, the one nobody really noticed or knew, how long has it been? Just a few days as the new science teacher before all this unfolded. I remember the joy and satisfaction of landing my dream job.

Now, sitting at the hard smooth gray desk, laying my weary head down, watching the sunrise, I can only wonder,

"Why me?" as I begin to drift off into darkness
