"Tsireya, come here!" Ay'yeiva called out for her little sister, only 6 years old, to join her by the edge of the pod. Before Tsireya could reach her spot she jumped into the water and called for her Skimwing, connecting her cue as Tsireya jumped in the water behind her. Ay'yeiva reached for Tsireya's hand and the younger girl held onto her sister as they swam off. She didn't know where they were going, but felt safe with Ay'yeiva. The 10 year old told her Skimwing which ways to go until they surfaced, Tsireya not recognizing where they were. Immediately she started to panic, "Are we outside of the reef? Ay'yeiva you know we can't!"
Ay'yeiva shushed her sister, "We are not outside of the reef, sister." She pointed over to the shore in the distance, having her arm next to Tsireya's face so she could see exactly where she was motioning to, "See? The pod is just on the other side of the shore there. It is just less crowded over here so we don't have to worry about anyone else."
Tsireya nodded hesitantly, also a bit confused as to why Ay'yeiva needed so much room anyway.
Ay'yeiva told Tsireya to sit on a nearby rock that was above the water, swimming a little ways away after she saw her sister was in a good, safe spot.
Surfacing with her skimwing, Eywa'Lan, Ay'yeiva took a deep breath, glancing over to where Tsireya sat with anticipation.
She took one last deep breath to calm her nerves, she had only done this a few times the day before when her dad was helping her bond with a skimwing. Lan dove under the water and started gaining speed, surfacing and using her tail to balance on the water just as Ay'yeova guided her to. Her tail started lifting off the surface of the water slightly as Ay'yeiva began to crouch on the saddle.
They were nearing Tsireya, Lan making a noise to tell the girl who was now standing atop of her that it was now or never.
Ay'yeiva agreed, letting go of her hold on Lan before jumping off the side of her and diving into the water, earning a big cheer of excitement from Tsireya when she resurfaced near the rock.
"Oh my Eywa! Ay'yeiva that was so dangerous - but so cool!" Tsireya's cheers calmed down when Ay'yeiva took a seat on the rock next to her, "Can I try?"
Ay'yeiva laughed, "Maybe when you are older, Tsireya. It took me nearly all day to learn yesterday." She held Tsireya's shoulder, "When you are old enough I will teach you."
