The kingdom of Mewni was a bit tense, and it was for good reason. The moon that forever hung above in the sky, surrounded by its various debris, was suddenly besieged with some kind of explosion. The citizens looked above and watched as a good sized chunk of the rock ripped apart, sparks and flashes as if a war of some kind was being waged on its surface.

As the battle raged on, chunks of many different sizes came crashing down and caused very decent damage, leaving most Mewmans having to deal with craters and collapsed buildings. There was even a forest fire at one point. Luckily, everything was contained, but it still left everyone fairly shaken up.

While many would like to blame the monsters for this, when news broke that Ludo's castle was destroyed everyone started to fear something else had awoken. Maybe it was a creature of the moon that fed on magic? Maybe it was a god of their ancient folklore? Or maybe it was simply a powerful magic user like the queen who felt they needed to be knocked down a peg or two.

Speaking of the queen, ever since the moon exploded, Moon herself couldn't stop looking up at it as she remained on the balcony connected to her bedroom. She was getting the feeling there was something wrong with the multiverse, as she remembered seeing some strange magenta light fly off into the sky from the wreckage of Ludo's castle as River went with the Diaz' to save Marco and Star.

How the spark twinkled as it flew into the sky unnerved her, and she wondered if this was all connected to her deal with Eclipsa. Maybe monsters were trying to finish off Toffee themselves so she could finally be free.

Moon shook her head with a huff, turning back around and heading inside. She needed to get her mind off of this. River was out doing a sweep of the land, heading to the other kingdoms, to make sure no one was hurt. Which left the queen of magic all alone in her castle, seeing the shreds of something mysterious left behind.

Well, she did have her servants. But they hardly counted as actual company in her eyes.

She decided to get changed out of her usual public attire into an outfit she also wore in public, but was more freeing and breathable. Just because she knew today would be a very busy one.

As she adjusted her newly selected corset, she found her gaze drifting towards a painting hanging above her and River's bed. It had the two of them and Star posed properly and orderly, something that still made her happy to this day. But there was this sense that Star wasn't too happy with it, considering how much of a fight she put up. Moon shook her head, choking it up to the typical rebellious teenager spirit. Princess Ponyhead was equally bad with that, to the point she was sent to Saint Olga's.

Sighing, Moon finished getting dressed and headed out of the bedroom, making her way down the endless halls of her massive palace. Servants bowed as she passed, and she nodded gracefully in return. She was dignified in her movements, this scrutinising gaze in her eyes at whatever she looked at made anyone tense.

Even servants that bowed felt nervous around her, as she was a great but very firm queen. Losing her mother so young took a massive toll on her.

As the queen entered the front foyer of the palace, two guards stood at attention, looking ready for battle.

"You two will accompany me as we help the rest of the kingdom", she said to the two of them. "Will that suffice?"

The two bodyguards nodded silently, and they followed her as she left out the front doors. As the queen headed the steps towards the more richer end of the city, she could see the plumes of smoke from some of the rocks that fell to the planet. She pursed her lips, wondering if Star had anything to do with this.

Simply because after getting her and her friends from the remains of the monster prince's castle, she ran right back, and was mysteriously absent. Earlier, Moon had tried to call her, but the mirror just showed her an empty room.
