41.The Clearing

Breakfast wraps up and we all pitch in with dishes.

"We're heading out to the clearing you guys coming?" Nova says as she moves towards the door.

"This I have to see" Seungmin says grinning as we all head outside and start walking up the path behind the house

I walk with Jisung behind the group as Minho and Hyunjin walk together ahead of us

"We have to lay off Jeongin" I say honestly embarrassed me or Jisung was ever mean to him

"What happened?" he says confused

"We talked, it's like his almost step brother or something" I whisper and he nods.

"I saw you with Changbin, he seems interested" Jisung grins

"I think he is" I say.

"I don't think you should shut yourself off from him, you have never been with anyone but Hyunjin. You never know" Jisung says and I look at him strange

"Couldn't you say the same about Minho and Nova" I say kind of taken back by his stance

"We both have had other relationships and are actually dating plus Changbin literally your partner power or whatever" he shrugs and I look up at path at Changbin as he's walking near the front of the group.I have feelings for Hyunjin, strong feelings but maybe he's right about not cutting myself off from him. Hyunjin and I aren't even exclusive and we've never actually talked about anything leading into that. So far we're just flirting and hooking up?

We make it to the clearing, a huge open field surrounded by trees and forest.

We all stand around looking at each other for a second when Chan steps forward. "I guess I'll start then" he says before standing back, facing out to the open field.

I watch as he closes his eyes and a large sharp metal shard rips out of the ground growing up towards the sky. He then stops after about at least 20 feet and turns to us

"Well shit" Minho says and Jeremy laughs.

"I'll go" Nova says smiling as she steps forward and closes her eyes

Within seconds the trees start to sway violently when it starts to rain across the field as dark clouds form above the trees. The water comes down hard passing over the metal shard and stopping in front of the group in a straight line.

Suddenly a section of the water sways out and hits nova as she stops and the clouds disappear. She looks at the group shocked before looking up at Minho laughing

He must have blown the water onto her, we all finally laughed when we realized what just happened.

"Jisung?" Nova asks and Jisung nods.

Suddenly there is a ball of water forming in Nova palm as she holds it out, growing larger and larger.

Suddenly she grins before throwing it at Minho as his head is now soaked making us all laugh as he wraps his arm around Jisung playfully pulling him into him."Hyunjin?" Willow says after a moment looking at him through the crowd. I turn to him as he steps forward and looks over to the field.

Suddenly a ring of fire forms in the grass around the spike of metal, growing larger and larger as the flames burn so bright they turn purple.

Suddenly the flames are uprooted as rock builds up out of the ground caging the Metal spike inside, I can feel my pull towards Changbin as the rocks form now more than ever, I feel stronger.

I look over at Changbin and he's already grinning at me before nodding for me to go.

I look back at his rock mountain he's formed in the clearing and I shut my eyes before forming dirt and small grass and plant growth around and on it.

I can feel myself pulling energy back from Changbin as I continue.

Suddenly my growth is cut short as I look and lava flows down the rock slowly, killing all the greenery.

I look over at Willow as she has her eyes shut focusing.

Suddenly rock and water grow on the hill covering the Lava putting it out. I look to Changbin and Jisung as they grin.

"Jeongin?" Jeremy asks through the crowd

he steps forward nervously. "I'm not sure how to show you without hurting anyone" he says and honestly that makes sense. How did he find out about his power?

"Unless" he says turning to me. "Can you form a small flower?" he says and I do. I grow one down on the ground between us as everyone watches.

he then kneels down in front of it before touching it softly as it immediately wilts and turns black dying.

he then pulls it out of the ground as Black Venom drops out the bottom.

"Holy shit" Chan says surprised. "You're walking death"

he then places it back on the ground and looks at Hyunjin. Within seconds without a word Hyunjin already has it burning up into nothing, so it can't hurt wildlife.

"I guess that leaves me" Seungmin says as we turn to him.

We watch as he turns to the rock mountain as it's now just awkwardly coming through the earth when he reaches out his hand and a beam of electricity flows out hitting the structure.

"Sick" Chan says from beside me watching.

The group ends up showing a few other small powers before we find ourselves walking back down the path to the house

"You had to have felt that" Changbin says from beside me as we walk I look up at him and grin and he smiles knowing I felt it

"How did you all find this place?" I say confused looking down at the house

"Some of us got our powers earlier than others because of our birthdays and the old powers found us as we popped up, feeling the connection. Some of us went seeking help online after finding the markings and powers appearing" Changbin says and I nod.

"And you?" I say looking up at him

"Willow found me" he says. "She grew up on this island ironically and had a huge pull here when she turned 21 and happened to get here and find the rest of us, she met a lot of the old elements as well" he says. "It usually takes years for this many new generations to find their way here"

"So we're all 21 then?" I say confused

"Every 21 years" he says nodding

"I don't know if it's random or not but I choose to believe we were selected for something" he says and I nod. For what though? I don't feel like I'm really protecting my element I feel like it's just an extension of me, and what happens if I die? So many unanswered questions.

We make it back to the house and all find ourselves going our separate ways as I sit on the couch with Jisung.

I look over into the kitchen and see Willow talking to Hyunjin as he leans up against the island grinning.

"Maybe I should be giving Changbin a chance" I say and Jisung looks over to see what I'm looking at

"That doesn't mean you still can't like Hyunjin, but it's only hurting you not seeing if it goes anywhere" Jisung says agreeing with me.

I watch as Willow reaches out and grabs his arm laughing, clearly flirting with him and he smiles. Ugh.
