I was always smarter than the rest of my class, I'm just glad to be graduating high school today. Alex handed me a beautiful flower

"What a beautiful flower, thank you, Aunt Alex"

Alex couldn't keep her tears back

"Your moms would be so proud of you"

I hugged Alex and went off to the stage to get my diploma, I was pretty sure it would be an easy transition from high school to college but I still hadn't picked my major. Grandma Eliza wanted me to pick something I would enjoy but nothing had my interest at heart. I always wanted to follow in my mother's footsteps, all I was told about them was one owned a business and one was editor-in-chief for a big company, but something was missing, something hidden.

Alex let me drive us back home after seeing Grandma

"Now you can apply for any job you like," Alex said excitedly

"Yes and make real money for once, why can't I work with you?"

Alex sighed a bit not sure when to tell Maddie about her real job and who her mom was

"Because it's dangerous and I wouldn't want anything bad happening to you"

Maddie rolled her eyes

"Yeah yeah okay, but I'm 19, I can do anything plus it'll be fun"

"Maddie, no, apply at the local newspaper, or retail job"

Maddie dropped off Alex at her place, while she went back to her place. The old apartment where her moms used to live.

I'm not sure what I will do next in my life, this journey doesn't end here.

Maddie went to put her things on the kitchen table and saw a little brown box. Written letters read On your graduation day- Love Mom. Maddie's eyes teared up a bit as she slowly opened the box to see a beautiful golden crest in the shape of an S with golden engaged words in the box your new journey begins.

Maddie woke up the next morning getting herself coffee and reading the newspaper, when she heard her phone ring. It was Noonan's getting back to her to set up an interview. Nervously arriving for her interview, she sat down at the table staring at a photo on the wall seeing a woman with the S on her blue bodysuit just like her golden crest. Maddie ended up getting the job easily.

"Hey Aunt Alex sorry to call you, but can we talk?"

Alex could hear Maddie's voice over the phone was off.

"Yeah, sure I'll be on my way over"

A couple of hours went by before Maddie heard the door

"Aunt Alex hi!" Maddie gives her a hug

"Hey, you okay?" Alex sits down concerned

"Yeah, I had a question, who is this?" Maddie showed a photo of her phone from Noonan's.

Alex sighs

"That is... That is your mother Kara Zor-El"

Maddie's mouth dropped

"WHAT?! She's my mother.. so does that mean I get superpowers too?"

Alex got up and wished she had never said anything but nothing could hold her back

"I... Yes, but I had the apartment laced with yellow kryptonite, so that way you can live a normal life. Maddie, I'm so sorry for lying to you for all these years"

Maddie shook her head "I can't believe you would hold this back from me, why didn't you just tell me?"

Alex teared up "Because I promised my sister and my sister-in-law that I would keep you from it, Kara wanted you to have a happy normal life"

"Happy? Normal? Everyone I thought I knew is dead!"

Alex can see Maddie's hurt in her eyes, the eyes that mimic Kara's.

"I'm sorry Maddie."

"I need space Alex, please go."

I didn't want to believe what I heard but I also needed space. Something to think about for a couple of days. I drove to my parent's grave, wiping off the gravestone. I had to wipe my tears again

"It's been a while since I have seen you mom, I wish you were here. It's not fair that I lost you both."
