grabbing your hand and intertwining them, kageyama and you walked out of the club in a hurry, and decided to go to a nearby park to just chill.sitting on a bench with him, you took a deep breath, appreciating the quietness of the night.
"this is nice," you whispered softly staring at the night sky.
"yeah, it is." he replied back.
sighing happily, you grabbed out your airpods, and gave kageyama one.
"do you..like beabadobee?"
he grinned. "yeah."
putting your airpod in his ear, the soft tunes of the singers voice filled the silence as you two walked along the park cobblestone path.
"soo..what made you get into fashion? you seem really into it."
"oh! yeah its a really simple story actually; i had a grandma who would always make me clothes for my stuffed animals, which soon spiked my own interest into making them too. and throughout elementary, i would have the coolest darn stuffed animals, they all had those dresses and cool things attached to them the other kids would get jealous. it wasn't until the middle of my first year of high school did i ever start to consider it, though. you know when you just...like something suddenly and it sticks with you for a while, but you never know if you wanna pursue it? that was my case."
"aw...that's actually really cute."
"i guess, haha? i don't know, really. my childhood was happier than most kids, and i never had a really bad day once until maybe until i turned 18. what about you?"
"what about me?"
"i mean...what got you into my volleyball?"
"oh, it was my grandpa, acctually. he got me super into it , and ever since i was born i knew i wanted to go pro."
"woah," you admired his passion. "i feel like..it's really cool you have a thing your obsessed with a bit!"
"thank you," he said, taking your words in gratefully. "also, how'd you get scouted for SOM interprises?"
"oh! they saw my work on tiktok and my website and they reached out saying i can apply for apprenticeship, and i swear i couldn't be happier—seriously, best day of my fucking life," you sighed happily. "it was like, all my hard work really paid off, you know? i wasn't a broo baby, and i had a shit ton of knowledge but no experience, and i thought about going to new york for fashion, but the price and anxiety stopped me, and im glad it did."
"yeah i totally get it," he added on. "when i got scouted for the first time after highschool, i felt really happy. wow yn...we're actually pretty similar."
you laughed at his realization. "yeah!"
"also, it's kinda spooky how we've never met eachother earlier, yeah?"
"right! we go to the same university, for gods sake!"
"oh yeah about that, i don't go to the university full time, neither do any of the professional athletes. we just go cause we want extra practice with members of the volleyball club, so i only come to campus like twice a week."
"lucky! i go to campus almost daily."
"yeah, and i was never good in school at all, infact i sucked. i have no idea how i even graduated!"
laughing slightly, you two continued to talk. "yeah, i was super average in school too, my highest grade was barely above 90!"
he suddenly did a 90 degree angle turn, giving you a deadpanned expression. "ur kidding, right? that's amazing! i barely scored above the sixties most times! i had a 47 in english!"
trying to hold in your laugh, you smiled. "dumbass."
he looked away from you, a small smile forming on his face.
"shut up."
you both knew he was smiling.
"thanks for walking me back again," you thanked kageyama as you two reached the enterance of your home. "no problem."
just as you were about to wave goodbye, he stopped you again.
"uh—yn, do you wanna do this again sometime? next week?"
you smiled at him softly. "of course."
he smiled back.
"well, it's a date then."
"i suppose it is."
waving back another time, you two finally bid goodbye.
you couldn't believe it—you were going on your first official date.
and he was too.
