season 1.
01 — pilot.

"That's a nice top" Gabriella Arden commented as she saw her blonde best friend making her way towards the Hastings' barn.

"I'll let you borrow it sometime" Alison Dilaurentis flirtily smiled at her "Where are you coming from?" she wondered, narrowing her eyes at her.

"That's for me to know" she carelessly replied, missing the angry glare Alison threw at her. Gabriella was the only one who could get away with talking at her like that.

"There are no secrets that times do not reveal" the brighter blonde teen quoted something she had read somewhere, as if she knew what Gabriella so deeply kept for herself, making the Arden teen swallow hard, but quickly down playing it "Careful Brie, secrets might end up burying you"

"Now you're just being dramatic for no reason" she wryly laughed, trying to put an end to their conversation before they entered the barn.

"You go first, I have to call someone" Alison dismissed, as she saw how the raven haired girl was already aiming to open the door.

"Who are you calling?" Arden wondered. It was pretty late, and all her friends were already inside of the barn. Although it would've been really naive for Gabby to assume that they were Ali's only friends.

"That's for me to know..." she repeated the words that Gabriella had previously said to her with a cocky smile as she walked away pressing her phone to her ear.

"You know, when someone says something like this they actually expect an answer from you" Nathaniel Arden inquired with a laugh, trying to break the tense atmosphere that filled the kitchen as soon as he splashed out the news to his daughter.

"Most people would've waited at least until I finished my morning coffee before saying something like that" she replied with a nervous laugh, leaving her still full cup of coffee by the counter.

"I'm really happy about this" he admitted, his eyes shining in a way that Gabriella hadn't seen in a long time "I want you to be happy about this too. Please be happy about it"

"I - I am. Happy about it" she tried to sound convincing for her father's sake, but he just tilted his head at her, letting her know how awful her acting was "Fine, I might need some time to process it"
