It was early morning when I shifted and rolled off the couch, my body groaning with a loud crack. The sun had barely begun to rise as I made my way to the patio out back. I settled into a quiet spot, trying to clear my mind and reflect on the events of the previous day. My solitude was soon interrupted by the sound of the sliding glass door opening, and Klaus stepped outside.

"Good morning," I said softly, still gazing at the sunrise.

"What are you doing up so early, love?" he asked, settling down beside me.

"My mind's been restless," I replied.

"Well then, I'm all ears," he said, reclining further on the patio furniture.

"I left a pregnant woman in the woods with a hallucinating vampire," I said with a sigh.

"Well, when you put it that way, it does sound rather terrible," Klaus remarked, chuckling softly.

"You're the reason this mess happened you know," I said, frustration seeping into my voice.

"Love, if they hadn't conspired against me, they wouldn't have suffered the consequences," he said matter-of-factly.

"I think you should really talk to Cami. She's a therapist—the kind who deals with multiple personality disorders and victim mentality problems. She might be just what you need," I suggested, standing up and closing the sliding door behind me with a decisive rattle.

I walked to the kitchen and began rummaging through the cabinets, gathering ingredients for breakfast. I set to work making pancakes and chopping fresh fruit, my movements automatic yet focused. Once the pancakes were done, I carefully wrapped them and packed them into a small Tupperware container. I added syrup and butter, and then placed the whole package into a bag.

With breakfast prepared, I headed back outside. Klaus was leaning against the railing, his eyes following me as I approached.

"Klaus, I need a blood bag or two," I said matter-of-factly.

Klaus raised an eyebrow, a hint of curiosity in his gaze. "And would you care to explain why?"

He gestured towards the bag in my hand. "Do I even want to know what that is?"

"It's breakfast for your pregnant baby mama," I said, emphasizing the point. "It's bad enough you left her in the bayou; now you want her to starve? She's carrying your child."

Klaus smirked, clearly amused but still intrigued. "That's nice and all, but the blood bags?"

"Elijah," was all I said.

The teasing smirk on Klaus's face vanished.

It took more convincing than I had anticipated, but eventually, Klaus complied and gave me the blood bags. With everything in hand, I began my walk back home. The morning air was crisp, and the walk took about twenty minutes. Once I reached my car, I sped down the road, my thoughts focused on getting to the bayou as quickly as possible

As I arrived at the bayou, I made my way to the dilapidated shack where they were staying. Outside, I spotted Hayley sitting on a makeshift porch, absorbed in a book.

"Hey," I called out, walking up and setting down the bag of supplies.

She looked up, surprised. "What's all this?"

I grinned, unpacking the food. "I figured your charming baby daddy wasn't exactly rolling out the red carpet for you. Wouldn't want you starving out here, would I?" I chuckled as I pulled out the blood bags.

Hayley raised an eyebrow. "I don't drink those."

"No, but the original inside does," I replied, nodding toward the shack.
