Standing outside of heaven

He sat on a rock overlooking the water thinking about Rosalia, and what he Had done. He stared at his hands, they were shaking. He could already feel the pain, building. He could feel the monster inside him straining to fly off, he could feel it smile in anticipation.

He sat there a moment longer letting the pain wash over him, then stood up. There was an old couple whose time was up. If it had been 70 years before, he would have felt guilty. But not now, now he itched to end their lives and end his pain, at least for a little while . At least they would die together, with someone they loved.

At least they could die at all.

He stood invisible behind an elderly couple. Against his will, a smile tugged at his lips. As if they sensed him they clasped hands how cute. He placed both his hands on their backs and closed his eyes. Tendrils of light streamed out of them and streamed into him. He shuddered with pleasure, feeding the savage creature inside him. The creature who would prefer not to shield the frail elders from their death, to feel the whole pleasure.

The light started to thin, and panic flooded him! His hands still shook, he still felt the stabbing pain in his chest. He hesitated, his resolve wavering. They fell to their knees crying out in pain-

no! He would not let himself feed off the pain of others. I gritted my teeth and they relaxed. When the light stream ended, their souls sat shimmering very close to white. Good people, very good. Living their lives in kindness. They would enter heaven right away. I gathered them into my arms and dissolved into shadow.

I now stood before the pearly gates of yes you guessed it, Heaven.

"Thanatos," Saint Peter nodded. There was a moment of awkward silence. As you may have noticed, I wasn't like other Angels. At best, I tended to make people...uncomfortable. Well not best, Rosalia had been best. I wondered if she was beyond those gates, or if she had chosen to be reincarnated. Maybe to find me stop getting your hopes up I told myself why would she leave heaven for her murderer.

"I brought two spirits," I let them drift forwards. "Almost as bright as you were." Another reason he was uncomfortable, I had technically killed him. Well I had killed everyone. That is why I was forbidden to go into heaven. Wouldn't want an angel that was forced to kill people entering into the angel homeland. Oh no, that would be unheard of. I tried to dispel my bitter feelings as I fell back to earth
