Ten years later.

Melinda sits in the front row at her mother funeral.  She was devastated, hurt, confused, and lost. Her best friend was gone. Her support system.

Melinda looks around at all Her family members. Everyone shedding tears and feeling hurt themselves. One thing about Melinda family. They always were there and always looked out for another.

Brain comes sitting down next to Melinda. Melinda lays her head on his shoulder as he sheds a tear. That was his everything. His only wife. He couldn't believe this would be the last day that he'll see the only person who truly loved him for him.

Pastor Foster comes up wiping his tears as well. He grabs the mic. He takes a deep breath in and out, wiping his tears.

"Family," is the first thing he said.

Paula was like his daughter. He watched her grown from a child to an adult. Paula father was pastor foster best friend.

"As we gather here today to celebrate passing....."

Pastor foster couldn't hold back the tears as he put his head down and then backed up.

Brain gets up, walking up to Mr. Foster. He puts his hand on his back as he sheds a tear, too.

"She was a loving person, a loving wife, daughter, sister, friend. An overall good person. Excuse me," he said, gathering himself."Paula was a great god-daughter. Funny," he said, smiling. "She came to me last week and said "Dad why you ain't get up off you behind an get out there to preach" he laughs "I had fallen asleep at my desk all the time. And she would be right there to wake her old pops up. I always appreciate the good person she was. And how she loved everyone equally. She helps a lot of you out when needed. She would give you the shirt off her back. Amazing women and daughter to me. Cause i never had kids. I was blessed with a granddaughter that i love dearly. Thanks to Paulas Father, my best friend. Rest his soul. I am happy that she's back with her parents and also sad that she's not here with us. But we have each other. I know a lot you have something to say, so I will keep it short. Paula Heather Smith, you are my only angel. You are my only daughter, and I will always be here for you," he said with more tears coming down as he passed the mic to Brain.

Brain clears his throat, "Paula Smith. I will always love you to the fullest. From the deepest part of our life to the surface. I will never forget such a beautiful face, smile, and smell. The way you brush your hair in the morning. The way you brush you teeth," he smiles."I'm blessed to have such a beautiful daughter we created. She looks just like you. So I'll always remember and see that face once i look at our creation. Paula, my wife. Not Ex-wife. Wife! The smile on your face, the little hair that sticks out in the back of your hair, the look in your eyes. Baby, I could go on about you. The way you put on lotion. And spray your perfume not only on you but me too. The way you eat, the way stand. Baby. I dont even know if i could do this. I needed you. I still need you. Paula, I'm so sorry, baby," He said as he broke down. He fell to the ground in so much hurt.

Melinda runs up, getting on the ground with her father. They both sits and hugged each other for the longest. There was nothing that could fix the hurt they both went through.

Two hours later.

After the burial of Paula. Everyone met up at a building that was rented out for the whole family.  As they walk through the door. They saw big tall pictures of Paul standing in the front entrance. As they made, they were through the lobby. They see a lot of roses that Paula loved with her favorite white wine that would be passed out to the family.

"This is so beautiful, " Melinda said

"I had to do something big for my baby," Brain said as his daughter held onto his waist.

"She would love this if she was here," Melinda said

"Trust me, sweetpea, she's here in spirit. She sees all of this. Just got to believe," he said as he walked off attending to the guest.

After the repassing. Melinda was at her and her mother house they had shared together for over ten years. She wasn't ready to leave the house her mother had bought her. But it was nothing for her here in Cali anymore. She made friends, but if she was to stay. She wouldn't be able to come home.

Brain walks in Melinda's room, seeing everything packed. "You okay?" He asked

"Just not ready to leave this place behind. Everything of her was in here," she Saud

"I'll make sure anything that you still want just to keep sent to your new house back home," he said seeing her Still upset "I know this is hard for you, just like it is for Me. But I promise,  you have to work with me through this for the both of us," he said, coming up hugging her tightly.

"I know, pops," she said as he kissed her forehead, walking out her bedroom door.
