Chapter 9: Suspect Interrogations (Part 3)

Adam is in interrogation room#3 with Todd Harris:

"You've got some explaining to do Mr. Harris." Adam stated. "Explain what?" Todd replied sharply. "First of all, your prints are all over the microphone, the vocal effects panel, the plug that connects the ground wiring, and the polarity switch, which means you were one of the last people to handle that equipment." Adam said sharply. "I'm the technical director. Of course my prints are on all that stuff!" Todd exclaimed. "What was your relationship with the band Mr. Harris?" Adam inquired. "Ok, I'll admit, it wasn't a good one; I traveled with them for 8 years, and they constantly bullied and harassed me. There were nights I couldn't stand the sight of them." Todd explained. "I bet you were so upset you wanted to get even, literally." Adam implied. "No, I wouldn't think of trying to knock them off." Todd rebutted. "Where were you last night?" Adam asked. "I was at Eddie Sparks Sr.'s recording studio. He called me in to do a recording at the last minute. I was there for several hours before I went home for the night." Todd stated. "If we talk to Mr. Sparks, will he confirm that for you?" Adam asked. "Yes. I have nothing to hide." Todd stated. "Except for one thing; We found your DNA on the polarity switch, along with a woman named Kathy Collins, and it turns out, we found traces of flame retardant from a fire extinguisher on it as well. Care to explain that?" Adam asked. "Kathy and I....have a very special relationship." Todd replied. "How special?" Adam inquired. "She's the only one who really cares about me, makes me feel special, wanted, free, and empowered." Todd stated. "Where were you when the fire extinguisher went off?" Adam asked. "We were getting it on inside Eddie Sparks Sr.'s private jet. All of sudden, my phone went off, my leg hit the fire extinguisher by accident and sprayed both of us; The call was from Mr. Sparks telling me to come in for a last-minute recording." Todd stated. "Sit tight Mr. Harris, we need to check the validity of your story and alibi." Adam said, exiting the room.

Adam met up with Jack:

"He's got a serious motive for the murder. The band was bullying and harassing him." Adam stated. "But..he says he has an alibi. He was with Kathy Collins on Eddie Sparks Sr.'s private jet, they were getting it on, before they had an accident; A fire extinguisher sprayed retardant on them and ruined the moment; He says it's because Eddie Sparks' called him and asked him to do a last minute recording at his studio. His leg hit the fire extinguisher and it sprayed him and Kathy." Adam stated. "His story and alibi checks out; Eddie Sparks Sr. did call him last night to do a recording at his studio." Jack stated. "So I guess we can cut him loose?" Adam asked. "Afraid so." Jack replied. "What about Eddie Sparks Sr.?" Adam asked. "His alibi checks out as well." Jack stated. "So I guess we can eliminate two suspects then." Adam stated. "Well, one is looking more guilty anyways, and that's Jill Wilder; She suspected her late husband Barry was having an affair with some other woman, and she was unceremoniously kicked out of the band a few years ago." Jack stated. "She say why?" Adam asked. "She sued her husband for child support when she found out she was pregnant with his three sons." Jack stated. "So she gets fired for that?" Adam asked, a bit surprised. "Surprise, surprise." Jack replied. "Indeed." Adam said. "Here's the other thing: her son just confessed to the murder of Eddie Sparks' son as well." Jack stated. "That was quick." Adam stated. "I know, something's not right about this." Jack stated.

"We need to have a look at Eddie Sparks' recording studio and private jet." Adam stated. "We have full access to the studio, but we need a warrant for his jet. We have more than enough probable cause for it now, so get one." Jack instructed. "I'm on it." Adam replied. "I'm going to see what Jake found out from this alleged confessor." Jack said.

So the C.S.I.'s can eliminate two suspects for murder, but one still looks guilty, and they may have another one to question.
