So, I didn't want to ruin any player's family or reputation so I invented a player for this story, so we can insult him as much as we want :)

There are many things in life that Mason cannot understand.

First, he can't understand why he feels so lonely even when he has a lot of friends, and second, why he feels so unsure when you are next to him. And there are many other things but these two are the most important for him.

 
When Mason looks at you, he feels his heart racing, he feels his hands sweaty and he can't control himself to touch you everytime. Everyone who knows you two see how crazy you are about each other, but they can't understand why you still avoid a relationship with Mason.

He sleeps at your's every week, some weeks more than once, but you never slept at his house, and this is something he can't understand either. You can have dinner there, take a shower in his bathroom, wear his clothes, stay all day lying in his bed, but when the night comes, you go to your own home and he stays alone.

When he moved to Manchester, he thought that things could be easier, but he has never been so wrong. Yeah, the team is great, all the players are nice to him, the coach is a great friend who Mason can count on, but he feels like everyone has their lives and family and he is left behind.
Until he met you, four months ago.

Mason doesn't believe in love at first sight but he definitely believed in admiration at first sight. He didn't have a mirror with him but he knew his own eyes lit up when he saw you for the first time.

 
You looked stunning in a red dress and Mason felt insecure about himself, so he asked Bruno to introduce you two when you were around each other. In the first month in Manchester he was still trying to get into a routine and that's when his captain realized that Mason needed to be involved in some things to stop feeling alone, and that's why Bruno invited Mason to his wife's birthday, so Mason could meet some of the players' families and some of his personal friends.

And that's when Mason met you.

You are a great friend of Ana's and you wouldn't miss her birthday for anything in the world, especially since you missed the kids after traveling for a few days. And of course, Ana was an incredible friend after the difficult period you went through after your divorce with Mathew.

 
You knew Mason hadn't taken his eyes off you since he entered the room, but you pretended you hadn't seen him until Bruno introduced you. You noticed that Mason was shy and he wanted to talk to you, but even if you weren't interested, you couldn't help but be nice to him just like he was being nice to you. And obviously, Mason was handsome and polite, so it wasn't exactly a surprise when you found yourself in his sheets a few weeks later.

After Ana's birthday you and Mason met two days later at the supermarket, then he asked you to have coffee with him. After that, you met in the park one morning and discovered that you lived in the same neighborhood. Mason wasn't going to lie and he hoped every day to see you in the neighborhood, just to say a "hi" or see you for 10 seconds.

You started meeting in the park a few days during the week just to walk and chat about random things, sometimes in the morning and sometimes late at night when there's no one out on the street. Mason was fun and made you laugh and you were mysterious and left him walking on eggshells most of the time, but he couldn't control himself and fell in love with you.
