Amara started to fall back, needing time to think, to figure out what she wanted. Malik respected that, but it didn't make it any easier. He missed her presence, the way she made him feel understood, like he mattered. The silence between them grew louder with each passing day, and Malik couldn't shake the feeling of loss, of something slipping through his fingers before it even had the chance to blossom.

He knew he couldn't change the past, but he wished he had been more open with her from the beginning. He wished he had trusted her enough to let her in on his scars, to show her the parts of himself he usually kept hidden.

Now, all he could do was wait and hope that she would find her way back to him. Until then, he held onto the memories, the poems, the letters—reminders of a connection that felt too real to just fade away.
