TW: minor bullying. summary at end of chapter

TAEHYUNG

Taehyung hadn't spoken in a long time. he can't remember when he spoke last. He remembered why though, every, single, night.

The kids teased him, asking where his voice was and they would poke at his throat, they'd take away his books with all his notes and throw them away. He was used to it, and just got new books.

But the teachers were worse. They threatened to fail him, unable to talk and explain what he needed from them. But they never failed him because work like essays and work sheets he aced all the time. It was all he could do, so he worked hard on those kinds of things.

Even now, he could see that it was bothering his new teacher, Mr. Ahn he was the new history teacher right before lunch.

Mr. Ahn was a tall, strong looking man with big glasses and a strong face. He was spending the day talking to the students one by one, getting to know them. And when Taehyung had come up and said nothing, he'd gotten really annoyed.

"Do you talk?" he titled his head, glasses flashing in the light.

Taehyung shook his head, looking down. He didn't like the look in people's eyes, always annoyed always tired of him.

"No? will this be a problem?"

only if you make it a problem, sir. Taehyung shook his head. Mr. Ahn sighed.

"So, it's going to be a problem. how do you...work around this with your other teachers?" he waves a pencil around as he talks and starts taking notes.

Taehyung no pulled out his notebook, small and red with little stickers on it and scribbled out: they give me more assignments with no talking required sir.

Mr. Ahn took the book and dropped it. "Seriously? and what about presentations, group projects and other social activities? that's how this class is based, Mr. Kim. you will fail my class if you don't do these things." he folds his hands in a challenge.

Taehyung lowers his eyes and takes the book. He points at the message again. I can take more writing projects, and bulk of the research for others.

Mr. Ahn looked at the paper again. He dropped his pen and rubbed his eyes, light dancing on his glasses. "You're going to be a pain in the ass. alright go back to your seat."

Taehyung got up and hadn't moved since. His face down at the table but his flickered around, seeing Mr. Ahn glaring at him, some kids were laughing in the corner. Other kids were studying with nothing else to do during the period.

Taehyung had decided to draw. He liked to draw. Not serious things, cartoons and stuff he saw in books. It was calming compared to all the kids around him. They were all too loud.

When the bell finally rang, he left class quickly before the other kids could follow him. He went up the stairs and into a storage room, he'd made this his hide out at lunch. Otherwise, kids would bother him in class.

He walked into the room skipping. This was the place no one knew about but him. He sat here during lunches. No one could bother him here.

He climbed onto a desk at the diner and threw his legs out the window, pulling his book with him. He was at the back of the school that overlook Geumho river. He drew it constantly, with nothing else to do. He loved it, he loved water.

He'd often go to the beach by himself with no one else to go with him. Or out to the river. He just found it so fascinating.

So that's what he did, paint the river until the lunch bell rang. And as much as he longed to stay by the window he got up and went to his class again, art class. (a/n this is messed up cause I changed it so art is before lunch so in the future its different in future chapters)
