(Third Person POV)
Y/N was thankfully able to get to the base camp to hand off Megumi to Shoko and Principal Yaga. The camp was filled with dozens of injured sorcerers and more the a few body bags. The special grade looked at the corpses and wondered to himself if such an outcome could have been avoided. He had always questioned how things where ran but the proof to his doubts laid in the loss of men and women who gave their lives for others.
The jujutsu society's entire fight with Kenjaku and the disaster curses these past months consisted of having their capabilities tested in a way that let their enemies be one step ahead of them. Meanwhile the sorcerers remained inflexible and predictable, even Gojo was read like a book for the most part. There needed to be serious changes in doctrine for sorcerers in Japan, after this battle was over.
He placed Megumi down on a stretcher and turned to Shoko who just finished stopping someone from bleeding out.
Y/N: "I stabilized his wounds but he took a nasty beating."
The doctor looked over the first year and closed the remainder of Megumi's wounds and let him rest before turning to Y/N.
Shoko: "I know that face Y/N, at least let me patch you up a little."
Y/N: "I'll be fine."
Shoko: "I'm wasn't asking you."
Y/N: "I'm serious. I've gotten reverse curse technique figured out."
She walked up to him and checked Y/N regardless.
Shoko: "Figuring it out is the first part. It looks like you've regenerated a lot of tissue, how are you on cursed energy? You seem stronger but the last thing I want is for your brain to fry."
Y/N: "It will get easier once I have time it adjust to everything. I did get stronger but I haven't fully adapted to putting what I've learned together. I'm more than capable of handling myself regardless."
She knew his confidence was not misplaced but Shoko saw the tired look in Y/N's eyes, he had been pushing his mind and body to its limits and beyond. The special grade knew that stunt he pulled in the subway station was out of desperation, he skipped multiple steps to stabilize himself before putting what Sukuna taught him to use. It was the equivalent of learning how to drive by speeding down a busy highway, reckless and dangerous.
His body was still adjusting in contrast to Sukuna's body a thousand years ago which was perfectly adjusted to his power, the difference was he had decades to hone it. It was as the King of Curses told the L/N descendent, power has a price. Y/N rolled his shoulder and made his way out knowing he had wasted enough time here.
Yaga: "Where are you going?"
Y/N: "This fights not done yet, the others need my help."
Yaga: "Did you not just say you are not operating at a hundred percent?"
Y/N: "My fifty percent is still far better than most people's hundred percent."
Yaga: "That may be but if Gojo is sealed then you need to be careful. With him out for now you're our strongest sorcerer."
Y/N: "I will. I just want you to know that I will no longer be a student at Jujutsu High. I will take up the mantle of my father and his father before."
The principal was surprised for a moment before nodding. He knew this day was coming, a day he wished was under better circumstances.
Yaga: "I accept your resignation. I am proud to of watched you grow into the man you are now."
Y/N humbly bowed his head to a man he held in high regard and left, the teachers words echoed in his head. Would he truly be proud if he knew the whole truth, would his parents or even Gojo approve of the things he has done? He shook his head and removed his doubts, if sorcerers were to have a future in the wake of all of this, then blood would have to be spilled and the very foundation of Japanese jujutsu society would have to be reformed. His purpose was clear as day, but for now he had to handle one problem at a time.
