Chapter 4: Bloody Night
Yunjin's Point of View
I focused on listening to our teacher and tried to push all my worries aside. I’d go crazy if I kept dwelling on everything.
There was a large wall clock in the center of the room that our classmates had been glancing at frequently. With every passing minute, the atmosphere grew darker, and I could feel the anxiety in the air. Even our teacher struggled to teach properly, constantly stealing glances at it.
“Six o’clock,” Wonyoung whispered, also staring at the clock. Our class ended at 6:30, so there were 30 minutes left before dismissal, and definitely, 30 minutes after we left would be Bloody Night.
I glanced outside, where it was already dark. What would happen this time? Would blood be spilled again?
It was terrifying to think that everything happened in the darkness. Who would be the next innocent person to get caught in it?
"I'm just going to the restroom," I said.
Karina and Wonyoung gave me disapproving looks.
"Are you crazy? You know it's dangerous outside, and you're worried about your bladder?" Wonyoung scolded.
"Do you really want to die, Zein? Just say the word, and I'll be the one to stab you!" Karina joked, but I just rolled my eyes at her.
I held my lower abdomen since I really needed to pee, and it was getting painful. There wasn’t a restroom inside the classroom.
"I'll go with you, Yunjin. Let's go." Jay offered his hand, which I quickly took.
"Fine, do whatever you want!" Karina exclaimed.
"Just be careful," Sunghoon reminded us.
We nodded before asking our teacher for permission to leave.
"Hurry up. It's dangerous outside, and as much as possible, don't let your curiosity get the best of you," our teacher reminded us.
Even though I was confused, I just nodded. Jay held my hand tightly, with the streetlights being our only source of light.
"Jay, do you think we'll make it out of here... alive?" I asked.
"Shh. Don't talk like that. We'll get out of here, okay?" he reassured me.
I went into the restroom, and Jay stayed outside to keep watch. I entered one of the stalls.
Silence filled the area, with only the sound of dripping water breaking it. I felt a chill down my spine, so I hurried up.
I almost ran to the door, but when I opened it, Jay was nowhere to be seen. My knees started to tremble as I looked around.
I heard rustling sounds from around me, doubling the fear I was already feeling.
"J-Jay?" I called out his name.
I covered my mouth when I spotted people not far away. There were many of them.
I was on the verge of tears when Jay suddenly emerged from the darkness, sweating profusely. He tightened his grip on my hand and pulled me away from there.
"Jay, where did you go?" I asked.
He didn’t answer, and I noticed that he kept glancing around.
"Jay, this isn't the right way," I said as we headed in the opposite direction.
"It's 6:40, Yunjin. I'm sure everyone else is already in the dormitory. Besides, they're surrounding the entire HU. We need to avoid them."
