They turned away from the grave, their footsteps heavy as they walked back toward the makeshift shelter. As they approached, Samrat's mind raced with thoughts of the others. The group had already been through so much, and now, with Aditya gone, he feared that this loss would be the beginning of a downward spiral. They had to be strong. They had to be ready for what was coming next.
But just as they were about to reach the shelter, a low, menacing growl stopped them in their tracks. Samrat and Rudraksh exchanged a glance, their instincts kicking in as they scanned the area. The growl grew louder, more feral, until a large, shadowy figure emerged from the rubble-a wild, infected animal, its eyes glowing with the same sickly yellow hue they had seen in Aditya 's dog.

The beast's fur was matted and torn, its mouth dripping with saliva and blood. It was clear that this creature was no ordinary threat. It was something far more dangerous, something that could tear them apart in seconds if they weren't careful. "Get ready," Samrat whispered, gripping his weapon tightly. Rudraksh did the same, positioning himself to face the creature. They couldn't afford another loss, not so soon after Aditya.

The infected animal circled them, its growls deep and guttural, echoing off the crumbling walls of the surrounding buildings. Samrat could feel his heart pounding in his chest, every muscle in his body tense, ready for the fight of his life. Then, without warning, the beast lunged at them, its jaws snapping dangerously close to Samrat's arm. He dodged to the side, barely avoiding the creature's teeth, and swung his weapon with all his might. The sound of metal against bone was sickening, but the creature didn't go down easily. It staggered, snarling in pain, before charging at Rudraksh with renewed fury.

Rudraksh was ready. With a swift, calculated move, he thrust his spear into the beast's side, driving it deep. The creature let out a final, ear-piercing howl before collapsing to the ground, twitching violently as its life drained away.
For a moment, everything was still. The only sound was their heavy breathing, the adrenaline still pumping through their veins. When the last twitch of the creature's body finally ceased, Samrat and Rudraksh allowed themselves a brief moment of relief.

"That was too close," Rudraksh muttered, wiping sweat from his brow. He looked at Samrat, who was still catching his breath.
"You okay?" Samrat nodded, though his eyes were distant, as if still processing everything that had just happened.
"Yeah... I'm fine," he said though his voice lacked conviction. "But this... this is just the beginning, isn't it?" Pooja said her voice trembling.

Rudraksh didn't need to answer. The look in his eyes said it all. This world was unforgiving, relentless. And they would need to be stronger than ever to survive it. "We need to get back," Samrat finally said, breaking the silence.

"The others need to know what we're dealing with. We have to be ready for anything." Karan said with one last glance at the fallen creature, the team turned and headed back toward their shelter, their steps resolute. They knew that what lay ahead would be even more challenging, but they also knew that they couldn't afford to falter. Not now. Not ever.

As they approached the shelter, they could see the rest of the group waiting for them, their faces etched with worry and fear. Samrat steeled himself, ready to share the news of Aditya's fate and prepare them all for the battles yet to come.

The team entered the shelter, the weight of the recent events hanging heavily in the air. The others gathered around, their anxious gazes shifting between Samrat, Rudraksh, and the rest of the group. No one spoke at first; the silence was thick with unspoken fears and the dread of what they might hear next.

Samrat cleared his throat, the sound breaking through the tense silence like a knife. His eyes were dark with the burden of what he had to say. He could see the worry and fear etched into the faces of his friends, and it only made the weight on his shoulders feel heavier.

"We lost Aditya," Samrat finally said, his voice low and filled with sorrow. The words hung in the air, sinking in like stones. Gasps and murmurs spread through the group, and Samira covered her mouth, her eyes welling up with tears. "He tried to save his dog, but it was too late. The infection had already taken hold." The room was silent, save for the quiet sobs of a few. The loss of Aditya, a trusted friend and a vital member of their group, was a blow they hadn't been prepared for. Samrat took a deep breath, forcing himself to continue.

"There's more," he said, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside him. "On our way back, we encountered an infected animal. It was... different. More aggressive, more dangerous. If this is what we're going to be facing from now on, we need to be prepared."

Raghav clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white. "This isn't fair," he muttered, his voice thick with a mix of grief and anger. "First Aditya, and now this... what the hell are we supposed to do?"

"We fight," Rudraksh said, his voice calm but firm. "We fight, and we survive. It's the only choice we have."
Karan, who had been silent until now, stepped forward, his expression grim but resolute. "Rudraksh is right. We've lost people before, and it never gets easier. But we can't let this break us. Aditya wouldn't want that."

Pooja nodded, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. "We need to stick together," she said, her voice wavering but determined. "That's the only way we'll get through this."

The others murmured their agreement, the collective grief slowly turning into resolve. Samrat looked around the room, seeing the strength in each of them, and felt a spark of hope. They had been through hell, but they were still here, still fighting. "We need to set up tighter defenses," Samrat said, his mind already shifting into planning mode.

"Rudraksh, I want you to organize a patrol schedule. We need eyes on the perimeter at all times. Karan, start reinforcing the shelter. Use whatever materials we can scavenge. And Pooja, make sure we have enough medical supplies in case any of us get injured. We can't afford to lose anyone else."

The group nodded, their expressions hardening with determination. They might be battered, they might be broken, but they were not defeated. Not yet.
As they began to disperse to their assigned tasks, Samrat felt a hand on his shoulder. He turned to see Rudraksh, his expression serious.

"We'll get through this," Rudraksh said quietly, his eyes meeting Samrat's. "We've been through worse, and we've come out the other side. We'll do it again."

Samrat nodded, the weight of leadership heavy on his shoulders, but his resolve was firm. "We will," he agreed. "For Aditya. For all of us."

As the group went about their tasks, fortifying their shelter and preparing for the challenges to come, Samrat allowed himself a moment to close his eyes and take a deep breath. They had survived another day, but he knew that the road ahead would only get harder.

But they were ready. They had to be.

With that thought, Samrat opened his eyes, steeling himself for what was to come. The fight wasn't over, not by a long shot. But they were still standing, still fighting. And that was what mattered.

As Samrat opened his eyes, the determination in them was mirrored by his teammates. They had each other, and they had a purpose. They would honor Aditya's memory by surviving, no matter the cost. With one last look around, Samrat turned to join the others, the heavy atmosphere of grief slowly giving way to the resolve that would carry them forward.

The scene shifted to a different part of the compound, where Kabir stood by the entrance, his eyes scanning the horizon. The early morning sun cast long shadows across the landscape, the quiet stillness a stark contrast to the chaos that had become their new reality. He had been on edge since they had lost communication with Samrat's team earlier, and though he trusted Samrat and the others to handle themselves, the uncertainty gnawed at him.

As he stood there, lost in thought, the sound of footsteps approaching from behind drew his attention. He turned to see Saya, his girlfriend. Saya came close to him and said " We need backup support and guidance to track down the empty lanes available. We need someone's help who is very good at it. "

Kabir thought for a while and instantly thought of his friend's girlfriend Tara.

" You know what you just reminded me of the best person for this kind of situations." He said.

" Who is that ? " Saya questioned.

Kabir smirked and said " Tara Raizada "
