Sara followed the security team backstage, her heart heavy with a mix of emotions she could barely process. Each step felt like a struggle, her mind swirling with questions and doubts. She couldn’t believe that this was happening—that the person she had confided in, trusted, and even come to care for, was none other than Adele herself. It was surreal, and yet, it was her reality now.
They led her to a small, private room where she was told to wait. Sara sat on a plush chair, her hands nervously twisting together in her lap. The room was quiet, save for the muffled sounds of the concert crew packing up outside. Minutes felt like hours as she waited, the tension in the air thickening with each passing second.
Finally, the door opened, and Adele stepped in. She had changed out of her stage outfit and now wore casual clothes—a simple sweater and jeans. But even in this understated attire, she exuded an effortless charisma, her presence commanding the room. Sara looked up at her, and for a moment, she was struck by how different Adele seemed in person. Yet, she was still the woman Sara had admired for so long—beautiful, strong, and undeniably captivating.
Adele smiled gently as she approached, but Sara couldn’t bring herself to return the gesture. The warmth that had once filled her heart whenever she thought of Angel—or rather, Adele—was now clouded by a sense of betrayal.
“Hello, darling,” Adele said, her voice soft, almost tentative. “I’ve been waiting to meet you in person.”
Sara struggled to find her voice, the words caught in her throat. She felt so many things at once—anger, confusion, sadness—but more than anything, she felt betrayed. She had opened up to Angel, shared parts of herself that she kept hidden from the world, and now it felt like it had all been a lie.
When she finally spoke, her voice was low, almost trembling. “You know, Miss Adkins, you actually lied to me and somehow fooled me. I don’t really know why. After all, you have everything, everyone you want is here to be your friend, partner, anything. So excuse my lack of politeness, but I’m so confused. What do you want with me?”
Adele didn’t seem surprised by the outburst. If anything, she looked as if she had expected it. She took a step closer, her expression softening as she responded. “Oh dear, I knew you would ask that, but I thought maybe a bit slower or perhaps somewhere else.” She gestured towards the door. “Come with me, and I’ll answer all of your questions.”
Sara hesitated, her mind racing. She didn’t know if she could trust Adele, not after everything that had happened. “Where? And why should I trust you, Miss Adkins? It’s not like you were so open and honest with me before.”
Adele winced slightly at the formal address, a flash of hurt crossing her face. “First, don’t call me that. I hate it, especially when you say it. And second, you will come, Sara dear, because you want answers. And if you’re stubborn and don’t want answers, you know that there isn’t really any other option. You have two choices—yes or yes. So let’s go.”
There was a firmness in Adele’s tone, a certainty that left no room for argument. Sara wanted to resist, to demand that Adele explain herself here and now, but deep down, she knew Adele was right. She needed answers, and there was only one way to get them. With a resigned sigh, Sara nodded, letting Adele lead the way.
They left the venue and drove in silence to Adele’s suite in Munich—a luxurious space that felt both intimate and grand. As soon as they arrived, Adele motioned for Sara to sit on a comfortable couch. The room was elegantly decorated, but Sara barely noticed her surroundings. Her mind was focused solely on the conversation that was about to unfold.
Adele sat across from her, leaning forward slightly, her gaze steady and direct. “So, ask, and I will answer,” she said, her voice calm, as if she had been preparing for this moment for a long time.
Sara took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. “Why did you text me at first?”
Adele smiled faintly. “You know, darling, relationship apps aren’t specifically for normal people. Celebrities can use them too. And I knew you from your photography page. I saw a familiar face and decided to text.”
Sara frowned, her confusion deepening. “So you knew me before that?”
Adele nodded. “I got interested in your work two years ago, and I’ve been following you since then. And you know, I have really huge connections, so if I want to know someone, it’s just a call away for me. So yes, I knew your work, your condition, and every other piece of information on the internet or from other sources, but I didn’t know you personally.”
Sara’s heart raced as she absorbed Adele’s words. The idea that someone as famous as Adele had been watching her, following her work, was almost too much to comprehend. But there was still one question that gnawed at her, one she had to ask, even if she wasn’t sure she wanted to hear the answer.
“Why did you lie to me?” Sara’s voice was almost a whisper now, the hurt evident in every syllable.
Adele’s expression softened further, her eyes filled with something that looked almost like regret. “Sara love, I am Adele. I have enemies as much as I have fans. I can’t risk telling who I am to someone I don’t know. Not at first. I needed to be sure before I could reveal myself.”
It made sense, logically, but it didn’t make the sting of betrayal any less painful. Sara looked down at her hands, trying to reconcile the feelings warring within her. But there was still one more question, the most important one of all.
“So, answer my last question,” Sara said, lifting her gaze to meet Adele’s. “What do you want from me?”
Adele didn’t hesitate. Her eyes locked onto Sara’s, her voice steady and filled with a quiet intensity. “You,” she said simply. “I want you—your soul, your body, your mind, and most of all, your heart.”
The words hung in the air between them, heavy with meaning. Sara’s breath caught in her throat, the room suddenly feeling too small, too charged with emotion. She had asked for the truth, and now that she had it, she wasn’t sure what to do with it.
Adele leaned closer, her voice dropping to a whisper. “I know it’s a lot to take in. And I know you’re scared, confused, and maybe even a little angry. But I meant what I said, Sara. I want you. All of you. And I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen.”
Sara’s mind reeled, her emotions a tangled mess of fear, desire, and uncertainty. She had never imagined this—a situation where Adele, the woman she had idolized for years, would confess something so profound, so personal. It was overwhelming, and for a moment, she didn’t know how to respond.
But deep down, beneath all the confusion and fear, Sara felt something stir—something that had been buried for a long time. She didn’t know where this would lead or what the future held, but as she looked into Adele’s eyes, she knew one thing for certain.
Whatever happened next, it would change everything.
