Lavender was a small purple pony, always the shortest in her class. She was highly ambitious and loved to try new things! Some things she was good at, some great, others... not so much. But she never let it affect her.
"Mommy, I wanna try tap next!!!" Lavender said, when walking home with her mother, Rose.
"But, sweetie, you just got started with ballet!! Are you sure you wanna do both?"
"I wanna at least try!!!"

Lavender never knew what her calling was, especially since she could never choose just one thing.

Rose, her mother; a light red mare with light pink hair always in two braids. She was a published author with many fantasy and realistic fiction books by her name. Her daughter admired that; she would always say, "there's so much to explore in the world!! How could you ever explore it all??? In a story there's endless possibilities, and no limitations!!!" Perhaps she would be a writer too, she thought.

Lavender's birth father, Tulip Petal, was a geologist. He wasn't home often because he was always out on an excursion, but when he did return home, he'd have elaborate stories of his travels: people he met, places he saw, experiences he had that he'd never had before! Not to mention the array of beautiful rocks and stones that he'd bring home for Lavender. Lavender found those interesting too!! She would always think of the backstories of these rocks; where they came from, how they got here, and what's next? It made her excited about life... about what lies ahead.

Once school started, she was always the one who asked the most questions, some kids admired that; others, not so much. She was lucky, however, to have a lovely teacher, Ms. HoneyComb. A sweet and loving teacher with a bright yellow coat and orange hair, with curls the curliest Lavender has ever seen. She admired Ms. HoneyComb: One, for her compassion towards her students, and two, for her generosity of sharing her knowledge of the world with the city of Fillydelhphia.

She excelled at writing and science, math however was a struggle. It was a bit too linear for Lavender and she had rouble paying attention during math lessons, what with the outside world to look at and so many stories to daydream about.

"Don't worry, Lavender! Everyone has their strengths and everyone learns at their own pace!" Ms. HoneyComb would say to her, which made her feel a little better.

While the other kids would play and gossip during recess, Lavender would be over by the river, looking for rocks.

"Um.... Lavender? What are you doing over here?" Asked a curious classmate.

"Hm? Oh!! I'm looking for cool rocks!! Just like my dad!!!"

"Don't you wanna play four square or something...?"

"Oh... uh... sure!" She looked at the rock, before tossing it back into the stream, where it came from.

"Do you know how to play???"

"Uh no..."

"Okay so first..." As the pony began to explain, her mind wandered once again, wondering where the rock fell to; did it go back to its home in the river? Or did it find a new settlement?

"Hellooo???"

"Huh?

"Do you get it???"

"Oh... uh.... sure!"

"Yay!!! Let's play!!!" Yelled another pony. the colt next to Lavender bounced the ball on the ground before tapping it into the opposite square, where the filly standing there did the same thing, and tapped it toward Lavender. She caught the ball, looking confused.

"Pause!!!" Shouted a colt.

"Nooo! You can't catch the ball!!! That's against the rules!!! Ugh... nevermind... you're out..."

Lavender looked around and everyone seemed to be annoyed.

"Oh... sorry..." She let go of the ball and went back to the river.
