"I, Alpha Wesley Orion of the Celestine Pack, here by reject you, Jemma Lewes, as my mate. I will not take you into my bed or my heart. From this day forward you are banished from my pack." The Alpha shouts to everyone gathered in the town square.

Wait what? What just happened... Mate... Reje.. what? I feel like I can't breathe. Is this what a panic attack feels like. My Alpha looks at me expectantly. No not my Alpha. Not anymore. I gather a shaky breath and try to speak but no words come out.

"Well are you mute as well as stupid. I'm waiting for you accept." His voice is full of anger as he spits his venom filled words at me.

I try to take another breath and it's like something snaps in me. It may be my sanity for all I know but I laugh. We are talking about a Harley Quinn, bat shit crazy, laugh leaves my lips and shakes throughout my whole body.

"Nope." I cackle between cries of laughter, and before anyone can make sense of my complete and under nonsense, I shift into my newly acquired white wolf and flee the scene.

I feel as though I'm half way across the country before I come back to my senses. In all reality I have made it one state over. I'm somewhere in the mountains. A fresh water river hums in the distance. I head in that direction. A drink sounds good right now. A drink and rest. I'm tired, so tired.

Remnants of the day start to pour in on me as I lap up water from the river's bed. Waking up on my 18th birthday. Having breakfast with my parents. Lunch with a group of friends in town.

That's where it all went wrong. I was in town. I had the day off from my pack duties since it was my birthday. Most days I work the mess hall.

My family came into the Celestine Pack after our original pack was taken out by an enemy pack. There weren't many of us left and we were split up and sent to join several surrounding packs. I was maybe three when this happened, but even 15 years later we are still treated as outsiders. Below the true pack. Civil servants barely above slaves.

That's why when I left the mess hall and bumped into our newest Alpha, my whole world came crumbling down. The moment we touched I knew this wasn't a fairytale come true.

My wolf surfaced, which shouldn't have happened until the first moon after I became of age. I could feel her flinch. She could already feel the rage, disappointment and disgust, rolling off the Alpha. He looked at me for all of ten seconds before turning and announcing to the pack that he didn't want me. That I was no longer a part of his pack.

It's okay though. I got the best revenge of all. And will continue to do so as long as I stay hidden. As long as I don't accept his rejection he will never be able to take a mate of choice. I won't be able to either, but after today I don't want one. All I have left to say is... I will never accept rejection.
