[ I'll stay ]
_____Mikey drove us around for a while. We were wasting time but I had nowhere to go. Every moment on that bike helped me forget. Forget what was waiting for me at home, who was waiting. Tension left my body and I let myself only exist in that moment. Wind tossed my hair and the stars were blinking down on me between the tall buildings.
However, all good things must come to an end. Mikey pulled up to the Sano residence. Draken's bike was parked outside and I figured he and Emma were inside waiting for Mikey.
"Thanks for this," I said.
Mikey usually made time to take me for a ride when he could tell I was upset. It was something Shinichiro started. I think he might've known more about my family than I would've liked. Mikey started doing it after he passed away.
"Anytime." Mikey grinned.
He walked to the front door but paused without opening it when he noticed I wasn't following.
"I thought we talked about this," he said.
I shifted on my feet. "I have to go home."
"It's the middle of the night."
He was looking at me like I'd lost my mind. It had been a long night but I couldn't go in and pretend like I belonged there.
"I'll text you when I'm home. I'll be fine," I said and turned my back on him and the house.
"What about your stuff?"
I glanced over my shoulder. "I'll get the tomorrow."
Mikey looked like he wanted to argue but he gave in, though not before he offered to drive me home, which I also refused. He told me to be careful and swore me to text him the second I got home.

I carefully slid the window to my room open and snuck in as quietly as I could. When I got in I held my breath, listening for any noise in the house, any sign that he was awake. I heard nothing.
I sent a message to Mikey that I'd made it home safe, placed my phone on my night stand and got into bed. The exgaustion of the day was pulling me under when the door crashed open.
I sprung to my feet. There was nothing left of the father who'd once loved me.
"I thought... I thought I told you to leave," he stammered, his eyes had trouble focusing on me.
"Please," I pleaded, knowing it was my only chance. "I don't have anywhere to go."
"Ha." He laughed. "You could stay with those good-for-nothing lowlifes," he said then added as an afterthought, "Or follow in your mother's footsteps."
I shuddered because when he brought up mom it was bad. I wished I'd stayed at the Sano's. Emma and Mikey would never hurt me.
Before I had time to react, he was in front of me grabbing my hair and yanking like he was going to throw me on the floor. "Is that what you want, huh? You wanna leave me too?!"
Tears sprung to my eyes so I squeezed them shut. I wouldn't cry in front of him.
"Stupid bitch."
