I plopped down in front of Nico. He sat with great posture which made me want to slouch. He didn't acknowledge me or he didn't know I was here.
His absent face was stuffed in that book as he held it with one hand and in the other hand, he was scribbling down these equations.
Either way, he was too immersed in whatever he was doing to notice a person entered his presence. Gently, I placed my hand on the table's surface and lightly tapped.
Still, Nico was scribbling down college-level equations then he laid the book down on the table then flipped through the pages.
I pursed my lips. Now that I was looking at him, I could see what all the hype about him was. This teen boy was blessed with prominent masculine features with his sharp jaw and sculpted cheekbones but somehow he made himself appear boyish.
He was indeed handsome. His thick dark lashes danced as he blinked and his lips parted while he concentrated, exposing his pearly white teeth.
They were too straight. I wonder if he had braces. That's a question for another time.
But sitting here and admiring this stranger was more than creepy. I cleared my throat while patting my chest to gain his attention.
I was sitting in front of the school's bad boy. One time I heard he beat a guy to the pole and back. Rumors are not always true but sometimes you need to believe to survive.
Nico Burton was him. Before I attended this school, I heard he maintained his record for the highest GPA and strives to become the smartest kid to ever get accepted into Oxford from here.
I guess this is what he does with all of his time. So I didn't understand how he had the time to be a bad boy here with his perfect attendance.
I mean just look at him. He wore large round glasses that sat high on his temple that he occasionally pushed up getting his dark curly hair caught in the base.
My eyes slowly traveled down to his broad shoulders and muscular build. His buttoned-up white shirt was perfectly ironed with the sleeves rolled up, revealing his arms with veins visible for all to see.
I see nothing appealing about him. Especially not from the things he does. He doesn't play any sports. He's in the school's chess club. Like, are you serious?
"Mister Nico Burton." I kept my voice low to be mindful of the other students studying but some gawked their eyes at me.
His dead eyes snapped up instantly and my skin rose with goosebumps. I drew my head back with my slitted eyes aimed at him. Maybe this is what they were talking about.
I expected him to curse at me for invading his space at any second but the longer he stared at me, I equally stared back and noticed his brows lifting and his dead eyes were now soft with recognition in them.
"Hello, I'm sorry if I startled you," he shyly murmured, talking like he was straight out of a book. My shoulders slumped when he didn't curse at me or throw a hissy fit at me for interrupting his alone time.
I tried my best to hold in my laugh by pursing my lips as we locked eyes until he broke eye contact first while shyly looking down.
This was the school's bad boy? Please, don't make me laugh more. "My fault. I didn't mean to interrupt you," I said, amused.
