Owning one of the top law firm in the state Jackson Sterling was known for his cunning ruthless ways but that all seem to disappear the second he laid eyes on Caroline Evermore, her long golden tresses fell around her in waves, freckles dusted her pale skin, she was an angel in his eyes and he was determined to make her his, he was done with the cat and mouse games, done with the playful flirting—she had quite a mouth on her he knew this the mere thought made a smirk appear at the corner of his lips.
He gave the DJ a nod and a warm slow muse filled the air as the lighting dimmed to accommodate the new mood that was set, the lady he knew not of filled the room with her raspy vocals and he could have sworn he saw Cupid with the arrows in here earlier. Throwing his drink back he stalked towards his prey just as another suitor made his way in taking her hand for the first dance, he was quick, swift and maybe it was the liquor but a warm tinge encircled his heart the second he came towards her.
“May I?.” He asked holding his hand out to her, she looked down at it then glanced at the man who was awaiting her response, Jackson, without taking his eyes off of hers spoke. “She's taken.”
Her eyebrows shot up at his audacity. Dressed in a sharp tux she wondered if Armani himself made it for him. She reluctantly took his hand and he pulled her in making her gasp from the closeness, her warm smooth skin molded to his perfectly, and damn it if she didn't smell so good, he tilted her chin up so he can get lost in her eyes all over again.
“I didn't know you can dance.” She said giving him a coy smile.
“I can do anything you want me to.” Was his response, he had a way with words she knew this, the kind of words that made panties drop in unison. Not wanting to become another one of his many one night stands she kept her guard up.
“Out in search of your new conquest?.” She asked, something sparked in his eyes, something predatory.
“I know what's been said about me but trust me when I say this my intentions here tonight is not to get you into bed.”
“Then what pray tell is it that you want?.” she looked at him pointedly.
“A date.” Before she could reply he dipped his head inhaling the sweet scent of her neck, nipping it softly she fought herself from falling into his charms. She knew she was close to failing when her eyes fluttered close, her grip on his shoulder tightened as she felt her knees wobble a bit, No, she thought. This needs to stop. With all of the will power she could muster up she stepped away from him, he felt his heart drop for the first time.
