enjoy. ☕️✍🏼
A week had passed since Erin's accident, and as she was finally cleared to leave the hospital, the Ballon D'Or winner arrived on time, her heart pounding with relief.
She navigated the hospital's entrance, glancing at her watch anxiously just as she spotted the therapist at the reception, completing her discharging process.
"Hey," she said softly as once hurried over, her eyes filled with concern as she witnessed the carrying her duffle bag. Reaching for it, she insisted. "Let me help you with that, Bonita. Are you feeling alright?"
The blonde managed a weak smile, still adjusting to the idea of leaving the hospital.
"Thanks."
Alexia took charge.
She took charge of everything.
She payed the hospital fees, she lead Erin towards the car. She tossed her belongings into the trunk. She opened the passenger door for Erin and helped her settle in, making sure she was comfortable before driving home.
Arriving at Alexia's apartment around half an hour later, the blonde couldn't help but savor the familiar surroundings, a feeling of coming home in her chest.
The delicious scent of lunch greeted her as she navigated towards her usual spot on the couch, where Nala, the little ball of fluff, was waiting to welcome her home.
Home.
Hm.
"I've set up lunch," Alexia began gently, her voice tinged with concern and a hint of nervousness. "Why don't you take it easy and relax, and let me handle the rest?"
Nodding weakly, Erin's eyes immediately drifted towards the couch.
"Yeah... I think I'll just sit here," she murmured, her voice still frail from the recent ordeal. "That headache is killing me."
The Ballon D'Or winner hesitated for a moment, warm fingers gently encircling the blonde's slender wrist.
"Actually," she started softly, "I thought maybe you'd like to see something." She gestured towards the bedroom. "The couch isn't your place anymore."
Erin looked puzzled but followed Alexia's gaze, following slowly as the captain lead the way down the hall.
And the moment she entered the bedroom, her breath caught in her throat.
The bedroom looked completely different. Completely different. The walls were painted in a soothing shade, new curtains framed the window, a different lamp softly illuminated the space, and a cozy, new bed adorned with fresh linens welcomed her.
Oh.
"What... What did you do?" the therapist asked in awe, turning to Alexia.
The midfielder smiled nervously, her eyes filled with hope. "I... I thought it was time for a change," she explained gently, lifting her shoulders in a shy shrug. "To let go of old habits and make this a fresh start. I'll stay on the couch as long as you want me to."
Erin nodded, navigating further into the room, running her hand along the smooth surface of the bedside table.
"It's perfect," she whispered, her voice filled with gratitude.
