The silence in the loft was oppressive, thick with the aftermath of everything that had transpired. Tori sat on the edge of the bed, her body aching from the physical fight and her mind reeling from the emotional toll. The events of the morning played on a loop in her head, each moment replaying with brutal clarity. The look in Derek's eyes, the cold edge of betrayal she had seen there, lingered like a ghost, haunting her every thought.

She knew that Derek wouldn't stay gone for long. He was too methodical, too determined to leave things unresolved. He'd be back, and when he returned, there would be no escaping the consequences of what had happened.

Tori's eyes drifted to the USB drive that lay on the floor where Derek had dropped it. The small piece of technology seemed so innocuous, yet it held the power to destroy everything she had been trying to rebuild. She reached for it, her fingers trembling as she picked it up. The weight of it felt heavier than it should have, as if it carried the burden of all her secrets.

She had to make a decision. The mission—the one she had been so meticulously carrying out—was now at a crossroads. Tori had come to Beacon Hills with a clear objective: gather intelligence on Derek Hale and his pack, weaken them from within, and ultimately bring them down. But everything had changed. She hadn't anticipated the old feelings that had resurfaced, the emotions that had tangled her up in a web of doubt and confusion.

Tori closed her eyes, trying to steel herself, to remind herself of why she had taken on this mission in the first place. Her training had taught her to compartmentalize, to push her emotions aside and focus on the goal. But Derek... Derek made it impossible to separate her feelings from the task at hand.

She knew she couldn't continue like this. She couldn't keep lying to him, deceiving him at every turn. The cost was too high, and the toll it was taking on her was unbearable. But if she abandoned the mission, what would that mean for her? For the people who had sent her here? The consequences would be severe, and she wasn't sure she was ready to face them.

But the thought of hurting Derek again, of shattering what little remained of his trust, was a pain she couldn't bear.

As she sat there, grappling with the impossible decision before her, the door to the loft creaked open. Tori's heart skipped a beat as she looked up to see Derek standing in the doorway, his expression unreadable. His clothes were rumpled, and there was a tension in his posture that made it clear he hadn't found the peace he had been searching for.

He stepped inside, closing the door behind him with a deliberate slowness that set Tori on edge. She could feel the anger radiating off him, but it was tempered by something else—something she couldn't quite place.

"Derek," she began, her voice soft, hesitant. She had so much she wanted to say, but the words stuck in her throat, tangled up in her guilt and fear.

Derek's eyes were like ice as he looked at her, his expression a mask of controlled fury. "You were going to destroy everything," he said, his voice low and dangerously calm. "All of it—everything we've built, everything we've fought for—you were going to tear it all down."

Tori flinched at the accusation, the truth of it cutting deeper than any physical blow. "I didn't want to," she whispered, her voice trembling. "But I had to. They—"

"They?" Derek interrupted, his tone sharp. "Who are they, Tori? Who are you working for?"

Tori's heart pounded in her chest as she realized the depth of what she was about to reveal. She had kept this secret buried for so long, had guarded it with her life. But now, there was no hiding from the truth.

"I can't tell you," she said, the words barely audible.

Derek's eyes flashed with anger. "You're not giving me much of a choice here, Tori. You owe me the truth. After everything, you at least owe me that."
