...her nostrils were met with the scent of must and mold, and her eyes blinked to adjust to the darkness of the cave-like structure.
Across the room, Darnerpaw could spot a figure - a grotesque, shadowy creature that was familiar to her. She had watched the spindly animal devour the souls of its victims with its gaping maw in her nightmares...
"I-It's you–"
Darnerpaw's words were nearly caught in her throat. Her fur pricked from fear and her blazing gaze reflected only bewilderment. The canine-like head slowly turned toward her direction, but she was only met with two empty eye sockets "staring" back at her.
"Fear not, child..."
The creature's mouth did not move, but it's deep voice vibrated her chest and echoed throughout the cave.
"I am not here to harm you or your friends..." The shadow stepped forward revealing long glinting claws on each of its three-toed "paws".
Imagining the razor-sharp claws shredding her with ease, Darnerpaw swallowed thickly. "Then what do you want?" She questioned, making herself out to sound confident even though she was anything but.
The creature licked its lips and continued to step forward until it loomed over her, appearing as nothing but a silhouette outlined in the dim moonlight that filtered through the holes in the ceiling. Its lips curled upwards into a grin, and Darnerpaw swore she could see a faint glow in the creature's empty sockets.
"I want to make a deal..."
