As the sun fully rose, the royal library stood before Aria and her friends, a vast and echoing space filled with ancient tomes and scrolls. The air was thick with the scent of old parchment and polished wood, an aroma that seemed to carry the weight of centuries. Towering bookshelves lined the walls, crammed with volumes detailing the rich history and intricate magic of Eldoria. Every surface was covered with stacks of books, from slim manuscripts to hefty leather-bound volumes, all whispering the secrets of ages past.

In the room's center, a large oak table bore a series of objects covered by velvet cloths. The library's high ceilings and arched windows allowed streams of light to filter through, casting a warm glow on the dust motes dancing in the air. The ambiance was both serene and charged with the promise of discovery.

Master Corin, a scholarly figure with a neatly trimmed beard and thoughtful eyes, stood at the head of the table. His presence commanded respect, not just for his vast knowledge but also for his dedication to teaching the orphaned children of the estate. His long, dark robes swayed as he moved, the deep blue fabric embroidered with symbols of the four elements. As the students took their seats, surrounded by books and relics, he nodded a greeting.

"Good morning, everyone," Master Corin began, his voice warm yet authoritative. "Today, we will explore the foundations of our magical system and its historical significance. We'll also discuss how different magical abilities can shape potential career paths—a topic of particular importance as many of you approach the Sorting Ceremony."

Aria felt a flutter of anticipation. The library was a place of wonder and mystery, and today's lesson promised to be enlightening. She glanced at the artifacts on the table, eager to learn more about the world of magic and how it might relate to her uncertain future. She couldn't help but fiddle with the pendant she always wore, a small, intricately carved seashell that seemed to pulse with an inner light when she was deep in thought.

Master Corin removed the cloth from the first object, revealing a polished stone inscribed with ancient runes. "This," he explained, "is an elemental rune stone, a key artifact in understanding the basics of Eldoria's magic. Our world is governed by four primary elements: Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. Each person has the potential to connect with these elements to some degree."

He gestured to the shelves around them, where books and scrolls detailed the lore of these elements. "Basic magic includes everyday spells like levitation, light conjuring, and simple healing. However, some individuals can tap into deeper elemental magic, such as controlling water currents, conjuring flames, manipulating earth, or summoning gusts of wind."

As Master Corin spoke, Aria's thoughts drifted to her own experiences with water magic. It was a part of her, a comfort, yet always just beyond full understanding. She wondered if today's lesson might bring her closer to discovering more about her abilities and the mystery of her past.

"These elemental abilities often influence career paths," Master Corin continued. "For example, those with a strong fire affinity might excel as warriors or blacksmiths. Earth magic users may become architects or farmers, while air magic can aid in navigation or communication. Water magic, often associated with healing and seafaring, can lead to roles in medicine or exploration."

He paused, allowing the students to absorb the information. "Most children in Eldoria grow up with their families, learning to harness their magical potential from a young age. This often gives them a clear sense of their abilities and future careers. However, for those of you here at the orphanage, this process can be more challenging. The queen established this institution to provide a well-rounded education, ensuring you receive training in all fields and can discover your true potential."

Aria exchanged a glance with Finn, who seemed confident in his future as a warrior, and Maeve, whose earth magic hinted at a path in crafting or architecture. Finn's wide-set hazel eyes were bright with enthusiasm, the glint of confidence unmistakable. Maeve's soft green eyes, usually so calm, reflected a quiet determination. Unlike them, Aria felt a weight of uncertainty. The Sorting Ceremony, which would soon decide their fates, loomed large in her thoughts.
