- Song: Thinkin' Bout Ya - Colby O'donis
Going into my senior year of college you would think I would have some sort of guidance of where my life was going. What fields of work I wanted to pursue, the steps needed to make it happen.
I'm used to making plans and lists, sticking to a loose schedule at most. The security of knowing what is coming in the future makes me feel safe. Yet I have no clue what to do. I feel like I'm behind in life and I'm only 22.
I usually escaped to the archives of early 2000s television whenever this reality is becoming too stressful. Comfort shows like Dawsons Creek, Gossip Girl, The O.C., Pretty Little Liars, and The Vampire Diaries were my usual go to binges.
Which explains why my room was covered in late 90s and Y2K memorabilia. Some Disney Channel posters and DVDs that I managed to smuggle away in my packages I brought to my college apartment. Teen beat magazines with old issues on Brittney Spears and The Backstreet Boys, screen accurate outfits in my closet. Now keep in mind this is paired with a light blue and chocolate brown color scheme to truly feel as though I've gone back in time.
Personally I wish boybands would come back. I mean when was the last time a boyband has actually been on tour without breaking up or taking an extended hiatus that turns into nothing. ( I'm looking at you one direction ) I mean music is getting boring without crazed fans and mall closures. Where's the fun?
That is what leads us here, swaddled in blankets in my bedroom watching YouTube performances of the old VMAs. Specifically the one where 4Town had announced their North American tour after opening for *NSYNC for the past view months. All the boys had just been awarded as best new artists in the group category. Their outfits were all forms of denim on denim with white accents like their shirts, shoes, or in Aaron T's case his famous backwards cap. Speaking of Aaron T. I don't think I've ever seen him without his overalls although his pants were still slightly baggy, keeping his skater boy demeanor.
The boys gave their acceptance speech and had brought up speculation on when they would go on a world tour. "We know there have been a few rumors out there about a tour.." Robaire said grabbing the mic. "So let's set the record straight..we will be going on our first North American Tour next year!" The crowd erupted into a thunder of applause and screams. "We'll see you in 2002!" Aaron T. Says throwing his arm around Tae grabbing the mic from Robaire.
I watch them walk off stage all smiles. As their hit song, one true love, played on the speakers following their exit. Now with this all in mind you have to have some clue about how much of a fan girl I am about 4Town. I loved them for as long as I could remember granted I wasn't born until 2002 (tragic I know) Personally my bias is Jesse (Kira, my roommate, sorority sister, and basically my wife has staked her claim on Aaron T.) But in all honesty I love all of them.
Truth be told the tour had gone amazing with every show getting sold out. Jesse McCarthy had actually opened for them as an aspiring artist before he got his big break. Their tour, from the media I've been able to find, looked like the party of the millennium. They were truly the best boyband in the world, even better than backstreet who had taken the world by storm! (They literally had a Backstreet Boys cruise)
If there were a way to see them ...just once ..even for a moment.. but that's impossible right?
Right?
