### Season 3, Episode 9: "Restless Obsession"

The episode opens with Trent sitting in his dimly lit office, his desk cluttered with papers, files, and photographs related to Jenna and Lucas's case. The bags under his eyes are deep, and his hands shake slightly as he takes a sip of cold coffee. The clock on the wall ticks away the early morning hours, but Trent seems oblivious to the passage of time. His focus is solely on the case, despite the dead ends he keeps running into.

Gwen enters the office, her expression turning from concern to frustration as she takes in Trent's state.

"Trent," she says, her voice firm but laced with concern, "you need to stop this."

Trent barely glances at her. "I'm fine, Gwen. I just need to find something-anything-about Jenna. I can't let this go."

Gwen sighs, stepping closer to his desk. "You've been at this for days, Trent. You're not eating, you're not sleeping. This isn't healthy."

He finally looks up at her, his eyes bloodshot and weary. "I can't rest, Gwen. Lucas was my mentor, my friend. I owe it to him to figure this out."

Gwen's expression hardens. "And what about the other cases you're supposed to be working on? What about your job? You can't let this obsession ruin your career."

Trent clenches his fists, his frustration bubbling to the surface. "This isn't just a case, Gwen. It's personal. You wouldn't understand."

Gwen crosses her arms, her tone sharp. "You're right, I don't understand. But I do know that personal cases have a way of destroying people. I've seen it happen. You need to take a step back before you lose everything."

Trent's jaw tightens, his anger and exhaustion making him less rational. "I can't just let it go, Gwen! I owe him this!"

Gwen slams her hand down on the desk, causing Trent to jump. "No, Trent! What you owe him is to stay alive and keep doing your job! You can't help anyone if you're falling apart at the seams!"

The room falls silent, the only sound being Trent's heavy breathing as he tries to calm himself. Gwen takes a deep breath, softening her tone.

"Trent, I know this is hard for you. But you're no good to anyone in this state. Go home, take a few days off. Get some rest, clear your head. We'll keep looking for Jenna, but you need to take care of yourself first."

Trent looks down at his desk, his shoulders slumping in defeat. He knows she's right, but the thought of stepping away feels like a betrayal to Lucas.

"I can't just-"

"Yes, you can," Gwen interrupts, her voice gentle but firm. "I'm ordering you to take some mental health days. Go home, Trent. That's an order."

Trent stares at her for a long moment, then finally nods, realizing he doesn't have the strength to argue anymore. He stands up, grabbing his coat and heading for the door without another word.

As he walks out of the precinct, the weight of the past few days begins to settle on him. He feels like he's failing Lucas, but he knows Gwen is right. He needs to clear his head if he's ever going to make any progress.

The episode ends with Trent arriving at his apartment, the exhaustion hitting him full force as he collapses onto his bed. His thoughts are still on Jenna, but for the first time in days, he allows himself to close his eyes and rest.
