Chapter 3
His finger drew closer to the doorbell.
Closer.
Closer.
Close-
"Hyung, are you sure that this is.....the right house?"
Jooheon sighed briefly, before turning to face I.M. "I swear to god, my Mum said she lives here. Why would you think that she'll lie to me?"
I.M played with his fingers for awhile before whispering inaudibly, but the 6 hyungs around him could hear what he was saying. "Maybe she doesn't want to see you because you've gone to pri-"
"Zip it! Don't ever bring that up again," Jooheon hissed, running his finger through his greasy hair that hadn't been washed in days and muttered a soft curse, "Even if she knows that I'm a prisoner, she'll let us stay. I promise. I know she will."
Although 10 years ago she chose to run away and divorce with her husband, Jooheon's father, Jooheon always felt his mother was his first priority.
He had always tried to look for her, but his father had no idea where she went to, neither her friends, who frequently came to their house for tea while having a long chat. She has totally cut contact from whoever she previously knew. When Jooheon's mother ran away after signing the divorce papers, Jooheon's father changed into a different person.
No, he didn't become one of those avid smokers nor drunkards. His mind just decided to set its focus on his business. Money, money, money. That's all her ever cared about, not before though.
Yes, Jooheon's family was filthy rich since his father had a well-prospered company from the start. But the once cheerful and bright household turned into some military dungeon, where all Jooheon's father did was to talk about money, his business and...money.
Every opportunity that soared through his life, Jooheon's father would do anything to grab it and cling onto it for dear life. Of course, that also meant using his only son to pawn for such investments and offers.
Feeling no sense of love at all, Jooheon searched high and low for a gang to join, and that's when he was first welcomed with open arms after a long time by 6 other people who call themselves Monsta X.
But within a month of joining the gang, Jooheon found his mother's handphone number, he should have been feeling happy. However, he hesitated and planned to wait for the right time to call her.
"Yah, Jooheon-ah?" Minhyuk waved his hand around Jooheon's face once again.
"Huh what??" Jooheon snapped back to reality from his thoughts.
"Oh yeah...doorbell," He mumbled before using his finger to swiftly press the doorbell. It sounded with a ding, echoing inside the whole house, and even the 7 prisoners outside could hear it.
No answer for a few seconds.
Shownu was getting impatient. He anxiously reached out and lightly pressed the small rounded button.
Ding.
"Hey!" Jooheon whispered-yelled while giving his infamous side-eyed glare. "Patience!-"
"Coming!" The gentle voice inside the house resounded.
Jooheon suddenly squatted down, feeling a thousand of needles pricking his heart. "I can't do this, I'm not ready."
He was excited to see his mother after 10 years, but will she still accept him if she knew he was a prisoner?
On the phone just now, Jooheon had lied to her saying that he just wanted to see her because he missed her so much. The missing her part was true, the other wasn't.
