Chase

Kendall was going to kill him. Chase was supposed to be at the Dino Bite Cafe half an hour ago. And he was going to be on schedule, but his mom started calling him, and he couldn't say no to her. After all, she was all the way back in New Zealand. Chase was stuck here in America.

Chase really missed his family.

He starts to push the cart of digging materials faster, trying to get to the cafe without running everyone over with the cart.

Someone taps him on the arm. He turns to the boy (he is a little shorter than him, with dark curly hair, dark eyes, and darker skin). His mouth was moving, but he couldn't hear him because of the pair of headphones over his ears. He takes them off, finally giving his full attention to the boy.

"I'm sorry, what was that?"

"I'm looking for these caves. Do you have any idea where that might be?"

"Let me see." Chase grabs a hold of the journal the other boy was holding. He examines the drawings in the journal. Even though he's been in America for less than a year, he was pretty familiar with the area.

Chase's eyes light up when he recognizes the place. "Oh, yeah. Sampson's Cave." He points to the T-Rex fossils that were displayed next to them. "Those fossils were actually found there."

Chase gives him the directions to where the cave is located, and the boy smiles at the news. He thanks Chase, and the taller one just smiles and puts his headphones back on.

He was really going to hear it from Kendall now. He was now forty minutes late by the time he made it through the cafe doors. He did spot Kendall in the corner of his vision, but he just walked past her. Or at least, he tried to.

"Chase." He pauses. He had his headphones in, but he could just tell from the months of working with her when she was angry at him. The younger one turns around to face his boss. "You are forty minutes late. We should have been at the dig site already."

"I'm really sorry, Ken -" she raises her eyebrow at him. "Right, sorry, Ms. Morgan. My mom called me, and I really wanted to talk to her. I haven't seen her or Chloe in ages."

Kendall sighs. She knows how tough it's been for Chase to be away from his family. "Okay, I get it. But, hurry up. Koda should already be in the back getting things ready. We need to see if any of the other energems are near where we found the Pink Energem."

"Don't worry, Ms. Morgan. We'll find the other energems. I'll meet you in the loading docks."

"Good. And hurry. Who knows what Koda's doing back there."

Chase smiles at his boss before heading towards the counter to get himself a drink before he leaves. As he was heading off to the loading docks with all of the equipment, he could hear someone's voice screaming at him from a distance. He tried to ignore them, but they were persistent. The person shoves his shoulder, and he had no choice but to look at them.

And that's when he smirked.

Of course, it was Shelby Watkins. She has been asking them nonstop if she could go fossil hunting.

"Hey, Sherry. Did you get me a present." He points to the bag that was in her hands.

The girl rolls her eyes. "It's Shelby." Oh, he knew that. But he just loves to get a rise out of her. "And no, this isn't for you. So..." She tries to change the subject. "You guys are getting ready to go on another fossil hunt, right?"

"Yeah. Hopefully, we can find some good... fossils..." And energems too, he thinks to himself.

He sees the girl's eyes sparkle as she sees what kind of dinosaur they are trying to find. "Triceratops! No way! Those are my favorite dinosaurs! See." She points to the dinosaur that was on her name tag.
