The city of New Olympia was bathed in the soft glow of twilight, its towering skyscrapers casting long shadows over the streets below. High above, in the heart of Apollo's Observatory, Helio stood on the edge of a massive, circular platform that overlooked the sprawling metropolis. The city buzzed with life beneath him, its neon lights flickering like stars in the night sky, but Helio's mind was elsewhere—on the mission that had brought him here and the pain that weighed heavy on his heart.
Apollo's Observatory, once a symbol of art, music, and prophecy, now bore the scars of conflict. The once vibrant hallways, adorned with holographic murals and ancient relics, were now eerily silent, save for the soft hum of the AI systems that managed the complex. Helio clenched his fists, his knuckles white under his combat gloves. The sight of the destruction, of what the once-mighty god had become, filled him with a mixture of sorrow and anger.
Behind him, Selene approached silently, her footsteps barely audible against the smooth, polished floor. Her sleek, cybernetic armor reflected the ambient light, making her appear almost ethereal in the dim glow. Her eyes, sharp and calculating, softened as she took in the sight of Helio's rigid posture.
"Helio," she called softly, her voice cutting through the silence like a blade. "We need to move. The Chimera's forces are closing in."
Helio turned to face her, his expression dark. "I know. But we can't leave Apollo like this. He's—" His voice caught in his throat as he gestured towards the center of the room, where a massive, cracked crystal orb floated above a pedestal. Within the orb, a faint light pulsed weakly, the remnants of Apollo's once-great power.
Selene approached the orb, her gaze filled with a mixture of pity and determination. "Apollo... he's been trapped in his own prophecy, Helio. The visions that once guided him have turned into a prison, a feedback loop of despair and regret. He's lost in his own lament."
Helio stepped closer to the orb, his hand reaching out as if to touch it, but he stopped just short of its surface. "He was our guide, Selene. He helped us so many times. We can't just leave him to suffer."
Selene's eyes narrowed, her mind racing as she calculated the odds. "We don't have much time. The Chimera's forces will breach the perimeter soon. We can't save Apollo if we're dead. We need to fight."
Helio hesitated, his heart torn between duty and loyalty. But then he nodded, steeling himself. "You're right. We'll fight our way through and come back for him once it's safe. We owe him that much."
As they turned to leave, the orb flickered, and a soft, melodic voice echoed through the chamber. "Helio... Selene..." The voice was weak, almost a whisper, but unmistakably Apollo's.
They froze, turning back to the orb. The light within it grew stronger, and Apollo's image materialized, his form ethereal and faint, as if he were barely holding on to reality.
"Apollo," Helio breathed, taking a step forward. "We thought we lost you."
Apollo's image smiled weakly. "Not yet, my friends. But I fear I am not far from that fate. The Chimera's curse... it has bound me here, trapped within my own visions. I have seen the end, Helio. The fall of New Olympia... the death of the Titans... it is all but certain."
Selene stepped forward, her voice firm. "Then help us stop it. You're the god of prophecy, Apollo. Use your visions to guide us, to help us break this curse."
Apollo's image flickered, as if struggling to maintain its form. "I have seen so much... too much. The threads of fate are tangled beyond recognition. But there is one chance, a slim hope. The Chimera... its power comes from the dark relic it wields. Destroy it, and you may sever the threads that bind us all to this doomed future."
