[unknown location, 1700s]

I look around as I slip out of the back entrance of the bar. It's almost completely dark out now, and the alleyway I'm standing in is unsettling quiet. It extends down towards the road, but it almost seems never ending.

I take a deep breath and begin to walk at a fast pace down it. For a moment, I glance at my watch and note that my meeting with Katherine Pierce didn't cost me too much time.

The wind whistles, and sends chills down my coat. For a second, I feel a presence behind me. My neck snaps back to check, but there is no one standing there. The darkness does make it difficult to see, but I am not blind.

Dark hair falls down my back, and I know that I am nearing the end of the alleyway. I suddenly gasp when I feel hands wrap around my neck.

I expect with my vampirism strength that I will be able to fight the stranger off, but he impossibly seems stronger than me.

I grunt as I'm forced in what seems to be a headlock position. We're near the wall as I'm being dragged back further into the alleyway. Into the eternal darkness.

My mouth opens to scream, but there is a hush. The darkness makes it difficult to look up and see my attacker's face.

As the light from the street lamp shines towards the alleyway, it is illuminated as I look up at the man who is holding me in place.

He is so very captivating. His head boasts dirty blonde hair and his eyes are so intense. My eyes fall down his features, all the way from his visible muscular build to his cunning smirk.

My attacker seems to be both intimidating and intoxicating.

"Let me go," I demand. I look into his eyes, attempting to compel him in hopes that he possibly isn't a vampire.

He chuckles, a smirk still resting on his lips. "Very brave, love." He grabs my chin harshly. "I wouldn't do that."

"You're a vampire," I whisper.

"I am much more than a vampire."

The attractive man's grip on my chin grows firmer, to the point where it physically hurts. His lips purse together in one single movement of frustration. "Tell me now. Where is Katerina Petrova?!"

Katherine told me that if I would be meeting her, that I would have to keep her location a secret. She told me that she is on the run from a very dangerous man that she crossed hundreds of years ago. She said that she hasn't been safe since.

I'm beginning to wonder if this is that man.

"I-I don't know."

Even if he could compel me, my answer wouldn't be useful. She changes her location on purpose, and I have no clue where she is now. Katherine could be miles and miles away by now.

"I was told by a vampire named Jameson that you know her. Sound familiar, love?"

Of all people I ever guessed would betray me, I never expected my own cousin that I share a home with to be the one to do it. In all fairness, we always had our differences. It enrages me that he would play with my life like this, knowing that releasing information about Katherine could get me killed.

I will have to deal with him later tonight. That is, if I can escape the intense gaze of this strong vampire.

"The name Jameson sounds familiar, but I'm afraid he is mistaken. I don't have connections with a Katerina."

The man smirks again, his eyes never leaving mine. By now, I can see his fangs. Him being so much physically stronger leads me to believe that he is a very old vampire.

"You intrigue me, Farrah Havelock. If you were intelligent enough to know about me, you would know to not dare to lie to my face."

"You know my name?"

"Of course. I know that Jameson's last name is Havelock as well. It seems quite frustrating that your little relative would out this little secret of yours to me, hm?"

I want to step back, but I'm utterly terrified and frozen in place. I try not to let the fear show on my face. "Who are you?!"

He smirks again. "I am Klaus Mikaelson. The Original hybrid."

I pause. "Hybrid? Original?"

"One of the oldest vampires. If I were to break a curse placed on me, I would be a werewolf too."

Klaus looks at me with amusement. "Someone doesn't know their vampire history." He brushes a strand of hair behind my ear and I get chills. "Your friend Katerina is the reason I wasn't able to break the curse long ago."

My hand slowly shifts to the large pocket of my jacket. In there, I carry a stake. I brought it as a layer of protection for when I met Katherine.

As Klaus speaks, my hand rests on it. "Well, Klaus, I can't help you."

"It is quite foolish to put yourself beside Katerina on my hit list, love."

I give Klaus a faint smile. "I'm sure I'll be just fine."

Before he can react to my snarky comment, I draw the stake from my pocket and sent it straight through his heart. The hybrid gasps and holds it.

I choose to ignore that his face isn't immediately turning grey like a regular vampire's would if they were staked. I waste no time and use my enchanted speed to move as quickly as possible back to my house.

When I lock the doors and run inside, panting, Jameson looks surprised to see me. He thought I would die. Klaus would have killed me if I didn't stake him.

"You traitor!"

Jameson steps back, knowing that his vampirism is no match for mine. I have been one way longer than he ever was. "Fay, I promise- I didn't mean it! I just knew that Katherine had to pay when she crossed Klaus and I didn't want to accidently cross him?"

I grit my teeth together. "Well, now you crossed me. And I have one thing in common with this Klaus. I don't like when people cross me."

Jameson looks at me in fear, his face growing paler than usual. "The stake you put into him won't hold him back for long! Originals can't be killed with a regular stake!"

I frown. "Really?" I snap a piece off the coat hanger. "But you can."

I throw the makeshift stake and it lands right through his heart. It hurts internally to see Jameson fall lifelessly to the ground, but we never had the bond that relatives should have. He was never a caring cousin to me. I would have never outed him to someone like Klaus like he did to me.

I know by know that I made the wrong decision when I got involved with Katherine Pierce. Jameson knew it too, but instead of warning me, he warned Klaus.

And now I know that I only have a matter of minutes before Klaus finds me.

I need to get out of this town. Fast.
