Scars and All (a Scarred SMG4 Fic

Everything Changes..

As the eldritch goo surrounded him and the people who mattered most, threatening to drown them while he was anchored to that chair, SMG4 screamed at himself from within to save them.

He felt powerless, and knew they wouldn't have long until they were pulled under. He couldn't see them, but 4 knew they were in trouble, he could hear how terrified they all were.

SMG4 wanted to turn his head to see if they were still there, but even the thought of it brought a burning sting of pain to his neck joints, he was just as powerless and paralyzed as them.

This truly was all his fault, and now his husband and loved ones were to die because of him...

Just as he was about to give in to his sorrow, a voice, the one he had fallen for many years ago, filled his ears.

"Hey, love... Listen to me... I used to think you had it all..."

SMG4 could feel the tears building as SMG3, the love of his life who he believed he never deserved, spoke with his heart.

The pain in his neck built as he wanted so badly to face the man he adored, unable to as SMG3 continued his heart wrenching speech.

"But they... WE, will always be here to have fun, and laugh together... You're my husband.. And I'll always love you."

"That's right! You always have us SMG4!" Meggy chimed as her neck got dangerously deep in the abyss.

"Yeah! Mario's going to laugh at you forever!" Mario struggled to keep his chin above it.

They stopped talking as the liquid consumed them, making SMG4 panic internally as everything fell silent.

Desperate, he endured that stinging pain as he was barely able to turn his head.

They were being pulled under, he couldn't see their faces anymore.

SMG4 felt the paralyzing agony in his joints as he continued to force himself to move, feeling like he had thousands of tiny knives cutting into his skin.

He didn't care, they were drowning, dying, he needed to save them!

He could hear something tearing, but the noise didn't deter him.

SMG4 ripped his hand off the keyboard, which brought a brief end to that leeching pain.

He didn't have time to react, as his now free body moved to pull them out, grabbing hold of both 3 and Meggy as he tugged them out of the sea of black.

SMG3 was the first to realize what happened, as he looked from Meggy and Mario, (who he assumed was grabbed by Meggy herself when they were safe), to his beloved husband.

"SMG4, my love! You're back!" 3 threw himself onto 4, hugging him tight as he never thought he'd get to do this again.

"...Yeah..." 4 croaked, kissing his cheek. "...I-I really needed to hear all that.."

The goo around them faded into nothing, as Meggy couldn't hold herself back from hugging her brother figure tight too.

"Dude.. I thought we lost you!" She cried.

Mario joined in too, catching all of them in a haphazard group hug.

"SMG4! Please-a don't ever scare us like that again!" He begged.

"I'm... I'm so sorry guys." SMG4 whined, feeling like crying again.

He turned to his husband, resting his forehead against his.

"Your words have saved me again, my love."

SMG3 smirked, "Heh, it wouldn't be the first time."

The ground shook as SMG4 remembered they weren't safe, catching sight of a window that was straight ahead.
